In Deus Ex 1, supposedly for robots, the physical damage and emp damage a 'bot can take seems seperated out. If you take out a 'bot using pure emp attacks, you still have to expend considerable physical punishment to cause the deactivated 'bot to explode.
However in DXIW, they seem to use a 'quick-and-dirty' solution to 'bot and mechanical target damage. It seems that whether the 'bot explodes depend on the final damage type that destroys the 'bot. If it is emp, then it doesn't explode. If it is anything else it explodes. For a mixed damage attack (Alex D using an Energy Sword with Electro-Static aug), the physical damage is applied first (if it is enough to take down the target, the 'bot/camera/turret explodes) then followed by the EMP damage (if the target is taken down by this, it doesn't explode.
