I'm wondering in which country you're situated
Currently the UK, but TBH, the last few years I haven't really bothered even getting anywhere with the local doctors. Once Covid calms down a bit again I'll talk to my GP. I've mainly been talking to doctors in Sweden, since that's where I lived at the time, but it was a long time ago, things may have changed, and there might be more knowledge and awareness about it out there nowadays. But given how bloody difficult it was to get anywhere with doctors at the time, I'm not massively positive that it'll be any different now, or here, but I'll still start pestering them when I can focus on my own health again. Comedian Sally Phillips claimed to have CFS "for three months", doctors didn't know what to do, until it was diagnosed as a brain infection probably caused by salmonella. Well, I don't think that's my problem, but what if it is? How do you test for that? She said, jokingly on QI (a light-hearted panel show, so she may have been exaggerating for comedy value), that the doctors were stumped for months, and whatever she had in her brain made her appear as if she was drunk. That kind of fits me, it's a little bit like being drunk, but only the bad sides of it, none of the fun sides. She's probably not a reliable reference, being a comedian, but still, what if? What if it was just a simple thing that could be fixed with the proper medication, and I could be normal again? I would SO love having a brain again, I really miss it.
