Also, I can't remember a time I have been so flamed just for trying to help somebody. I'm not saying I've found the fountain of youth or something. I'm just saying something very commonsense...if you eat right, you don't get sick. Raw foods are one of the most credible and researched diets out there, and more and more we're finding people curing their diseases using this diet. There's tons of literature on Amazon.com I can point you to, if you're interested.

I think the point is if raw food was such a panacea it would be a much more widely used approach. And it isn't.
No one is flaming you "for trying to help".

And doctor's have no nutritional training. I read somewhere that in their entire university education, they only spend 30 MINUTES studying the effects of nutrition on the human body.
Yeah this is wrong. You read "somewhere"? I read somewhere that your mom
somewhere
But tbh diet is, of course, very important in any bowel disease of course diet can affect the nature of it. That's common sense and diet modification IS part of standard Western medical treatment of Crohn's. No revelation there. Management is not the same as cure though and if you go stuff your face with some nice fatty foods for a week and then come back 100% symptom free I'd be surprised.
Besides, AR has something else entirely going on. My neighbours blood pressure was helped with beta-blockers. Maybe AR should try those.

AR - did they explain why they are approaching the problem like this?
This isn't any particular method to this approach- that's just how things are done in our healthcare system. Doctors- specialisits especially- book months and months in advance until they get an opening, even if you're fairly sure you have super breast cancer aids.
So while they're 99.9% convinced I have, as they have so eloquently narrowed down, a micro prolactinoma on my anterior pituitary, it will be months and months before anyone will glance at my charts and say "oh ok here's something to help" and help me
This current endocrinologist says nothing is wrong with me and my symptoms are psychosomatic even though a) my prolactin level is 5 times higher than a normal male and b) my testosterone levels are signifcantly lower than they were 2 years ago and c) the longer these things go untreated the harder it is (especially in males) for drug therapy to work and surgery to become necessary and in the meantime I'm still out on my ass unless I buy steroids and aromatase inhibitors to counteract the testosterone problems and wait until next year for this guy to see if I need dopamine drugs or surgery. The upside is I don't pay direclty out of pocket, the downside is I dont have a choice in the matter
maybe if i eat bananas til i puke it will help

Did they check for a penis?
Maybe you were sick before and you're fine now.
The_Raven on 10/11/2008 at 12:32
Wow, by the sounds of it, your current endocrinologist sounds like a real screwball. I hate bad mouthing people like doctors due to the shear amount formal education, training, and experience they have; but there are some really bad ones out there.
EDIT: Happy 40th rotation, AR. :p

AR, you have a wicked sense of humor. Keep it up. (The humor I mean! :cheeky:)
Sometimes laughter is the only thing that helps.
