Consistent use of condoms reduces the chance of HIV transmission by about 90%, yeah. Bearing in mind that the chance of getting HIV even from unprotected sex is already very small, then you're basically talking about stopping the disease dead in its tracks.

Yeah, while a lot of these are imperfect solutions, in the west we didn't virtually halt the spread of the incurable disease with all of our abstinence and monogamy.
