Over time Simspons has made me laugh more times than Futurama - that's hardly suprising given the amount of time these shows have been on.
Futurama can cripple me with laughter so that I can barely breathe on a pretty regular basis though. With the simpsons it's usually just a little chuckle or a smile.

WORST - EPISODE - EVER!
I remember when The Simpsons could do the definitive gag on almost anything but I think the show peaked a long time ago. Although its still one of the funniest shows on TV and Homer still has some killer lines, IMO

Futurama is rumored to be in straight-to-DVD production right now. Commercial success would be the only incentive for Fox to resurrect the series, which means that I'm not holding my breath. Too bad, really. It would be a huge deal for me to see it come back.

it's not rumoured, it is.
It is being made into four straight-to-DVD movies that are then being cut up, re edited, added to and subtracted from and made into 16(?) episodes to be aired on some American cable channel that I forget the name of.

Obviously I can do nothing other than speak for a wholly biased perspective, but I can easily rhyme off hundreds of Simpsons moments that aren't only amazingly funny but were ingenious and have a certain timeless quality to them
There's a heavy element of subjectivity, but in terms of success the Simpsons leaves everything else behind. It must have a more general appeal to keep going like it has.
I suppose the more focused appeal of Futurama appeals to me in a way the Simpsons doesn't. Perhaps it has an element of the surreal that I like that isn't present in the Simpsons to the same degree.
I'm not a huge fan of animated sitcom type shows though, so perhaps I'm just talking about an exception for me. For some reason I'll run through the seasons of Futurama and enjoy them (apart from one or two episodes) every time, but I couldn't be arsed to watch Family Guy at all.

I heard Matt Groening is leaving the Simpsons with a severance of $10 million. Someone said he didn't like where the Simpsons is going, that it's getting too crude for him. Huh?
Oh yeah, and I heard that the series is ending after the movie comes out, but I heard that awhile ago. I love the Simpsons, but it wouldn't be THAT bad...most people would aggree the for awhile the series has become soggy and dull.
What are your thoughts?
Well, if you want crude, let's watch The Family Guy. IMO the best (and only Simpsons' worth watching) was when Conan O'Brien was writing the shows. I would leave the show too for 10 million dollars, especially for a show that is truly the intellectual property of Tracey Ullman.
