Why don't you guys do mass-emailings of all the new important news? Some news just slips me right by, because I don't visit the forums enough.
Examples... send emails letting all one zillion TTLG members know that:
"Thief 4 has been announced"
"The Dark Mod has been released"
"Here's a list of all FM's released this month"

Not everyone here his a taffer, you know? And there's RSS.
If it was opt-in, mails would still be fine with me. Then again they haven't updated the hub in over 3 years. So who's going to write mails now?

Well, only the hardest of the hardcore actually use RSS... As for not everyone being a Thief follower here (which is PROBABLY very arguable) either an initial email could be sent to everyone asking them to manually subscribe to whichever game's news they want updates on, or TTLG could just do a "TTLG News Update" that covers ALL relevant titles. (just core things, like "New BioShock Anounced", etc... and, of course, do a special monthly FM's list, with its own opt-out list - or opt-in, whatever)

Yeah, I'm not sure where that issue has been discussed (I saw a thread on it maybe a year ago or so), but I certainly don't see why some random, net-savvy community members aren't just chosen to keep that area alive.

What you're describing is exactly what RSS is
for. If you don't use RSS, then you need a better browser (or RSS reader).

Not sure what you mean. What I'm saying is that very, very few people save/follow RSS feeds (except among the nerdy elite).

I mean that if you have a good RSS feed reader, you will use them, because they're very useful.
... or I suppose you could pipe them into your Gmail, if you used Gmail and were so inclined.

Your perception of RSS is a bit skewed. Almost every major website provides a feed, it's not some nerdy elite thing (anymore). Time to catch up, especially when it gives you exactly what you're asking for. Newsletters were the 90s.

. . . unless you're talking about following a forum section, which nobody wants to do.
I'd be interested in your source for
that.

...following a forum section, when you never visit the forums, in order to catch wind of game releases and new title announcements...
