Since I'm currently playing Mass Effect 3 (for the first time), I wanted to ask: are the texture mods worth installing for a first playthrough? They look good enough in stills, but it seems that the best, most complete one is a real pain to install. Am I just being a lazy sod unworthy of Spectredom?

I'm guessing that you need to use Texmod to force them? I never could get similar retextures to work with ME2, leading to crashes on game boot. HOWEVER I did use such a reskin to "fix" the texture distance bug for Garrus' face in ME1 PC.

Yup, you'd need Texmod. On the whole I like the look of the game, but every now and then there are extremely unsightly low-res textures and especially seams. Still, probably not worth the hassle, especially since I don't know how well the mods run. I've heard that they can result in extremely long loading times.

Is that from the part in the ME3 DLC where the Reapers pretend to want to make peace with Shepard and gives her a fine cigar as a peace offering but then when Shepard smokes it it turns out to be a fake exploding cigar and Shepard is like GRRR I'LL GET YOU STILL!
