Was walking through the mall when the Marrowmind box caught my eye. Didn't know much about it but since it appeared on TTLG, it must be one Hell of an RPG... then I saw Championship Manager 4 next to it. I nearly pulled my hair out trying to decide which was the better deal... Well in the end, I got them both anyway. I don't regret it. Not one bit.
Wow. That's all I can say about this game.
I've always liked the kind of games where you make desicions. The character creation at the census office was some treat alright. The first option was sweet. I mean... in all my years of gaming, I've only played this sort of game like... twice? It's so hard to find a game where YOUR desicions matter and every little thing you do affects the games outcome. Atcually the term "RPG" kind of lost it's meaning. Take Final Fantasy for example. It's a fantastic game and definately one of my all time favorites but look at how the game goes. It drags you along. Not even one important decisive moment. As the years pass, the number of "actual RPGs" seemed to fade. The only other game I've played which is similar to Marrowmind is Fallout and Deus Ex, Now all I see is people running about with nothing but one thing on their mind and that is to rack up the kill points in crazy story-less/weak games like Unreal.
Marrowmind is also the perfect example of "Simple yet exquisite". The graphics are really nothing to boast about but the gameplay... :thumb:

COMPGUY: "Sorry, we have no such game"
ME: "Huh? But it's displayed at the window..."
COMPGUY: "Really? Show me then"
(Walks out and points to Marrowind)
COMPGUY: "It's Marrow-WIND"

I'm more of the weapon-loving kind so I'd go for anything that can wield big axes and wear big armor, but I was curious about what I'll get if I answered the census' questions... well not surprisingly, a Barbarian. I would have chosen it anyway... with a few minor tweaks of course :D
Oh and that "story" in my 2nd post is real. :sweat:
