Nicely put ;). But remember this is all part of the steampunk aesthetic ... The City is pure hyperbole, a medieval city skewed through a 20th century lens of skyscrapers and urban sprawl.
Excellent. Any other nominations? Mugla or course would have been another ideal choice, but has stated he doesn't have as much time on his hands these days ...

Doc_Brown would be a fine choice; however, it's really his choice. Real Life dogs all our endeavors, so I'll just be content as long as this project continues progressing (or regressing with good reason), and as long as someone will interject logic when emotions grow too strong.
Keep the project alive!:thumb:

I made a grammatical error? Two, in fact! This upsets me greatly. :(
No, no; you only made a spelling/logical error! :thumb:

I would like to nominate Doc_Brown... check your pm
Actually, I've just been waiting to hear what Sol has to say about it. I'll do it because it's needed, not because I necessarily desire it, but I don't want to assume such a role if doing so would create any sort of rift. I appreciate the votes of confidence, but I'd like to hear all the votes first.

I've been asked about my opinion on the naming of a Project Lead to the mapping project. I suppose my stance on the matter really comes down to this:
I hold a great deal of respect for the work Doc_Brown has put into this project from it's inception. More than anyone else, he shows the tenacity and the balance to provide a guiding vision and strong lead for the mapping project.
On the other hand, naming any individual a project head ahould not mean that the end result is basically in the hands of one individual.
It tends to put a damper on debate when the decision-making process is in the hands of one individual - already, we've had an instance where Doc has been placed in the uncomfortable position of having to explain that he hasn't followed the full arguement and was simply stating past precedent without taking into account new information.
Part of the problem we are having is that we haven't made use of an accurate voting mechanism. We do have access to a polls feature, and could very well make use of it - but again, there is a problem. We've seen several people swayed from one side to another and back again several times in the last few months alone. Cutting off alternate avenues of planning at this stage strikes me as somewhat premature.
In the end, what I would strongly object to is a 'Teacher Said' scenario, wherein any attempt to discuss the current status of the project is quashed by stating the current viewpoint of the Project Head. Sadly, in my experience, that stifles all discussion, all debate, and all divergent lines of thought - and that is my sole concern in this matter.
I know that Doc has had to begin from scratch with this project on more than one occasion over the last few years. It may be that we need to tear down and rebuild once more. Whatever the result, we most assuredly would benefit from actual Developer input (hint, hint, any of you still lurking) on the matter.

My preference would be to find an optimal solution based on the evidence,
but I'll hurl my vote at Doc too, if it comes down to that. ;)
I'll be off the hook a week after New Year, and thought of helping MorbusG & Co. with the wiki. Perhaps there is a solution yet, once we get everything inside our field of vision?
