in Thief Gold briefing B07.AVI Garrett mentions that the part of the City where the abandoned Hammerite Cathedral is located, is walled off and no one's allowed to go in. He also says that maps of the area are easy to find but, like his map, most of them are over 50 years old.
Yeah. More than familiar with it. It's not what I was asking, though. Thanks for trying, it is appreciated.
I'm actually looking for the specific reference mentioned in the Lexicon:
Wall:
(The Wall) District outside of the barricaded areas of the Old Quarter. Popular den of various sorts of criminals. Object of a crackdown supervised by the Baron, rumored to be prodded by Raputo, Hammerites, or his own brethren.

I don't think that's canon. Either it's the author's imagination, or a reference to a FM perhaps? Could the area around the Barricades be considered a district? They're just part of Old Quarter.
cheers

Which is also good to know - but where, besides the Lexicon, was it drawn from? Because if it IS a sub-division of the OQ, Shalebridge could quite possibly be the same - which is another way to deal with the OQ/Cradle issue, as well as POSSIBLY the Shalebridge/Newmarket issue in one stroke.

Nowhere as far as I can see. There is no mention of wall district anywhere in the original games. Just walled section (which is a bitch when it comes to mapping out old quarter :( ).

Blast and bugger.
I was so hoping that it would be something that we could use to overcome the Shalebridge discrepancy - having Shalebridge be a sub-district of the OQ. So bloody useful. Too bad that we can't track the source.
I know the neighbourhood is also mentioned in the old Iron City RPG as well. Ah well... like I said, just a few ideas bounced around.

It's so refreshing to see a project keep moving toward completion.
*Note to self* :p
I'm wondering: is this Wall district a reference to the mis-transcribed quote wherein a person named "DeWall (sp?)" was written as "the wall?"
Sg3c1701 - Hey! You remember when the Baron's police took down the wall?
Sg2c1702 - Yeah, of course! Had a buddy in the group who was blockin' the back alley!
Sg3c1703 - I hear it was Raputo what turned him over.
Sg2c1704 - Another Undermarket Warden? That's slick!
hm2c0901 - Even the Baron doth finally act against evil...when prodded with enough vigor.
Hm1c0902 - Meanest thou the action on DeWall's thugs?
hm2c0903 - Verily; some have told me it was his own brethren who in seem didst turn him in.
Hm1c0904 - Thieves betray their own; now as always.
Maybe a long shot, but might this be the source of "The Wall?"

Well! I'm glad that worked out. Thank you. :thumb:

Well, I wouldn't say it worked out per se, because it's sort of weakened my idea that Shalebridge may possibly be a subsection of the Old Quarter - as there is no 'The Wall' area outside the Barricades, it seems that it's The OQ and The Barricades within. Although the whole Shalebridge as part/connected to on the T3 map would really, really ease some things, I still belive.
Ah well... now that the mystery is solved, I'm left with another - who on earth extrapolated that particular quote this way? (Sadly, that one is destined to remain unanswered, if TheCircle is to be believed...)
Ah well... I'll go back into lurk mode - although I was amused to see my old user name in the first few pages of this thread.
