Mapping out The City. - by Digital Nightfall

Actually, Doc... version B is an extensive (read: almost total rebuild) proposed by str8g8 to both incorporate certain inconsistencies and allow for fan expansion.
Version A (with Shalebridge moved down to be a part of Old Quarter, as it appears in the Version B map listed above, but without the district split and extra river emphasis) is where the debate lay.
I do like how the east side of the river seems to be less chaotic - the more I look at LotP, the more I think that there are eager condo developers eying the City's buildings, looking to convert old warehouses into upscale lofts for nobles like the Rothschilds.

Agreed, Version B as linked to above was intened as more of an Option(2) Compromise that tried to find some middle ground. Basically I used Sola's placement for Shalebridge, but shuffled some of the other districts around to balance things out. Also it splits Shalebridge across the big river (not sure this is necessary really). Instead we could make the small river fairly wide and uncrossable as it would as it neared the coast, and more canal-like further inland. Remember, starting from scratch offers no guarantee that we would not end up on the horns of the same dilemna further down the line. So I am all for the compromise, as it seems the only way to keep the project alive.

Dammit, I knew I'd screw that up somehow. Well, that's what you get for posting anyway instead of taking the time to double-check everything.
Come to think of it, is there even a mock-up of Version B?
I have to agree, though, that Option 2 is probably our best bet at this point. Option 1 should only be used as our last ditch choice if everything else fails, and Option 3 I fear risks killing our enthusiasm for the project.

Well, there are quite a lot of maps floating about at the moment.

I think Sola mocked some up, but they were just quick hacks to get the point across.
I agree with you about option 2 btw, seems the only way forward. If someone comes up with a completely new approach/starting point, then starting over would be ok, otherwise we will just end up back where we started ...

Well, we did have several restarts with various people along the thread already, and each of them seemed to conclude into the same points we already had.
Doesn't exclude the possibility of a new approach naturally, but it might be that there wont be much maneuverability anymore left.
As always, I ended up with much less time than I first thought I'd have. I'm sure we'll see an official version soon though, as I see you have come this long already.
Best to the whole project, hope I can help you out with it sometime yet.

So, umm.. how about the Dayport/Eastport -swap? Please? :)

Go for it ... both ways round are consistent with the facts. Post it and see how it looks. :)

Yes, I remember now, nice map btw. :thumb:
I don't have a problem with the Dayport Eastport arrangement ... seems to work out nicely. Have you considered moving yr South Quarter Ambush map down to line up with Shalebridge/Shalebridge Cradle? That would give us a nice basis for a Sola flavoured map.

Holy hell this thread is still alive?
How long have I been gone?
