A quick check with unreal ed shows it to be an empty room without ambient lighting, and the safe door isn't a mover, so it's impossible to interact with.

Ah well then, I guess that confirms it. Kind of weird that they would have it in there if it didn't work. Kind of like how the GOTY version "deactivated" the Buddah glass cabinet entrance to the MJ12 base in Maggie's apartment. The mind truly boggles...
