The relationship one's body has with nutrients and water doesn't exactly qualify as "the great unknown."
Oh, man... I know, I know... But when did I say it was?

Also: you don't apparently know a goddamn thing about science, which is hardly surprising given your, ahem,
imaginative beliefs.
Please enlighten me.

there would have to be a whole mess of miracles all coinciding in one old guy, and how likely is that even if such things were possible?Well, nature
has given us (
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/national/science/daily/daily/oct99/spacebugs4.htm) microbes that can survive the radiation and vacuum of space. This doesn't prove anything about this old guy except to say that when it comes to its own survival, life is a tenacious motherfucker.
My own opinion on the matter is conflicted I suppose. Obviously everything we know says that this shouldn't be able to happen, but then I think about some of the crazy things I've seen dedicated practitioners of meditation perform (like (
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rjpAh4rqTv4) this guy), and I find myself wondering just how much hidden potential the human body still has secreted away from us. Hell, as much as we'd like to think we know of the universe and how things work, there's still an 8 pound lump of mass each of us carries atop our shoulders that continues to baffle us despite all our perceived knowledge.

Yes, and that 8-pound lump cannot survive without nutrition. Honest nutrition...not fucking Cosmic Osmosis.
Why is it so hard to believe that this is nothing more than a sham? Why is that so impossible?
Besides, the old bastard is 83 years-old. Has it not occurred to anyone that he's simply senile/insane from being a hermit for the past 70 years and just believes that he hasn't eaten or drank anything in all that time.
Or, my personal theory is that since he started this "holy experience" when he was a horny 13 year-old, maybe he's been surviving on cum all this time. Full of protein that stuff is.
It's no more silly than saying the Vast Unknown has kept him going.

Any physical result that may or may not arise as the consequence of meditative training is regarded as a distraction and something to be ignored and not dwelled upon.
The whole point of serious practice is to go beyond solidifying realities so these things are more often than not obstacles.
But not eating and drinking? Highly improbable and that's only hedging my bets, I'm more inclined to say bullshit.

It's not impossible at all. Actually, it makes absolute sense. But it's also boring and a dead-end logic pathway. The implications of this story being true are far more interesting than the idea that yet another wacky Indian has attempted to deceive the masses.
Fortunately I find myself having more than enough spare brain power to consider the "what ifs" while still holding reasonable doubt.

Yes, but that mentality is the same one that causes people to fork over their life savings to some faith-healer (who is living large on scamming the rubes), then mercifully die without ever knowing the magnitude of debt and despair they have put their family in by being led on--and will do so even though
everyone knows that it's utter bullshit.
But what if....
Famous last words of the taken in.
(edit) And a quote from a hack really answers an honest question quite well. Bravo?
