I'll be dead long before it does anything major so I don't really care.
(Yes, I realize this kind of thinking is why it hasn't already been fixed, but I need to prioritize my sanity for more immediate concerns, like making sure I can pay rent.)

That still doesn't mean it shouldn't be debated.

Of course it's a real threat; but I can't see our species doing anything like enough about it until it's got too much momentum to change
It gained too much momentum to change several years ago.

Actually, our best bet is simply pollute the upper parts of the atmosphere with a bit of ash which will reflect some of the sun. It's cheap, it's 100% doable, it has immediate effect, and it has been proven to work. It's pretty much only waiting now who will actually be desperate enough to do it first.

Isn't that how the Matrix all started?
(you'd be wrong about it being too late to late change - there's a whole lotta difference between a bit of warming and collapse of various climate controlling systems and the ushering in of a new climatic period and eternally stressed food supplies across the globe for the rest of human civilisation - the IPCC still reckon we have 8 whole years to change our entire way of life. Do you feel lucky?)

I personally can't wait until the day cockroaches are considered a delicacy. Yum.

Many mid-class people pay rent and still find some time for caring. An individual can't do much alone, but everybody can adjust his or her lifestyle to be more ecological. It begins with daily habits, reduction of electricity consumption, separation of waste, perhaps you can support some petitions or a offer a small donation to NGOs and civic associations who plant new trees and clean the lakes of garbage in their spare time. Nobody wants you to blow up factories and do other BIIIG things, rite. Politicians are here to do big things - and we should let them know pretty loud that they are our SERVANTS, not MASTERS.
Ignorance of the masses is the problem as usual. If people were aware how much power they can have when they unify themselves, they could change much. Awareness is the first step - at least something.

Or, we could translate all living organisms' DNAs into software, and prepare to exist as AI.

You mean "constructs". AI is something else. Aren't you at home in cyberpunk terminology?

I'm not talking about a Matrix-like state where our minds will exist in an artificial world while our comatose bodies rest in a life-support system. I'm insinuating that the human race as we know it will go extinct, and our descendants in the form of AI, or 'artificial consciousness,' to be more precise, will carry on the human legacy.
