There's an enchanted ring on a table on the balcony of Anvil Castle. I'm pretty sure you can get there by a secret passage in the Blacksmith's area, then to the countess' room. Then to a door that goes outside. That should be it.

Ok, I'll look into that ring too.
Added one more item - the fin gleam, an enchanted glass helmet, fixed level with night eye, water breathing, and 10' detect life. Found underwater, off the western shore of the island west of anvil, near the top of an underwater skeleton.

Hmm... this thread DID provide something useful.
Rather naughty for Beth to put ANYTHING useful in the muddy waters they created. No surprise modders enhanced their water greatly almost immediately.

+20 Hand to Hand leather gauntlets behind the sparring partners in the Arena district. They're in a very hard locked chest though. Don't know hard that would be to open at level 1. Obviously very hard I suppose.

I know about the estucheon - thing is, it's actually leveled treasure. It's always the same base type, but the damage reflect varies with player level - mine is only 20%, and I've seen it as low as 10%.
And mine is 30%
Tuco on 7/4/2006 at 00:37
Unless the item levels with you, it really would suck to get it before it hit 35% dmg reflection. Would basically make your character less effective at end-game.
Fig455 on 7/4/2006 at 02:36
it doesn't level w/you. Mine's been the same for well over 10 levels. Probably 15.

Here's an item that you don't even have to steal. Just go to the arena and sign up to be a combatant. You'll be given some mildly enchanted heavy armor that's better than anything you can buy at level 1. Then you can wander away and never come back to the arena if you don't want to.

Yes, I finished the quest at a very early level. Mine only has 15%. It's still a very efficient shield though, haven't actually found anything better as of yet.
At least now I know to wait with completing the quest for round 2!
