Making a Breton Pure-Mage... - by jb_136

Ok, I'm making a full-out, pure mage. As you probably know, Bretons have the highest magicka by far, but I also know that it cannot restore itself as I sleep.
What do I use to restore my Magicka cheaply?
Also, any sugestions are welcome!! This is *hopefully* going to be a good character, all my other ones were pure shizzat!!

I think there is a spell that restores magicka but drains health, not sure though

Bretons, along with Argonians, Dunmer and wooden tables all regenerate magic overnight. It would be the result of your birthsign that you may not be able to regenerate magic overnight... that would be if you chose the sign of the atronach...
If this is what you did, (or will do), the simple answer to your problem is, get someone to attack you...
Basically, summon some sort of creature that attacks with magic, (like an ancestor ghost). While it wails on you, (you can provoke it by attacking it), your absorb magicka ability, (assuming your using the atronach sign) ought to take care of the rest. When the beastie starts to annoy you, just whack it.
Hope that solves your problem.

Since your a mage, you may want to make your own restore magicka potions with alchemy too. So stock up on void salts, frost salts, daedra hearts, and comberry.
For a good site with an alchemy database, go here...

i have made 4 characters, and ive got to tell u taht the breton pure-mage works perfect.
my char:
Race: Male Breton
Birthsign: Atronach
Attribute #1: Intelligence
Attribute #2: Willpower
Major Skills:
Destruction
Conjuration
Alteration
Restoration
Alchemy
Minor Skills:
Mysticism
Enchant
Unarmored
Illusion
Acrobatics
This char was hard to start at first, but now I am a God. I am lvl 136, (Unarmored training with 100+ speed) i have 1069 life, maxed stats, maxed major/minor skills, and maxed med/light/heavy/longsword/blunt/athletics misc. skills.
I have found out that spells suck, and enchantings rule. Also, make every character max longblade or blunt (cresceant or sunder)

No I'm a God!! =D
Actually, yeah, spells suck = casters suck = melees rule... unfortunate rather, was hoping to see some REAL spells =D

Actually, Bretons have the second highest, IIRC. High Elves have the highest, at 1.5x, in addition to all of those weaknesses. However, since you probably don't want all those weaknesses (wuss! (no, I'm kidding; I picked Breton, too)), you're probably best off as a Breton Mage.
One thought is choose Breton as your race, I would choose Mage as my class because the premades seem well balanced and there's something cool about a premade anyway, and choose The Apprentice as your sign. Bretons already get 50% magic resistance, which means (if I'm right about the way the system works) that the 50% weakness to magicka will be canceled out, and you'll get the 1.5x.
So, with the 1.5x from The Apprentice, and 0.5x from being a Breton, you'll get the same amount of magic as a High Elf with The Mage as his sign. Very nice.
Of course, if you want a _real_ challenge, you could go with High Elf + The Apprentice, for 1.5x and 1.5x, with 100% weakness to magicka. ;) I think I should try that sometime...

I did a Breton mage with the sign of the Atronach. I hit upon one very successful method for restoring magicka: use the Imperial Cult and Tribunal Temple shrines. Joining each faction cuts the donation significantly; do a couple quests and the donation drops to zero.
I found Almsivi and Divine Intervention as quick as I could, so I could always teleport to the nearest recharge point (make sure you have magicka left to get out during fights, or have a Restore Magicka potion for emergency use). I found Mark and Recall so I could Mark wherever I was adventuring and then Recall to it after I recharged.
Don't expect an easy time; for me, anyway, fights are very touch and go. It's very easy to get smacked down if you don't pull out the right spell; of course, as long as you have an Intervention spell handy, you can escape. OTOH, I did survive (to 19th level so far), and life is becoming much sweeter. I can one-shot Skeleton Champions and Atronachs, which is fun. :)

actually, if u want a real challenge, pick an orc mage, with shadow, or some such shitty sign. and never gain a lvl :tsktsk: altho that is a bit of a challenge...
