It's sad to me that so many people buy pet food at grocery stores - most of it is just crap and isn't good for animals - it's like sending your kids to McDonald's for all their meals. I realize that the good stuff is more expensive, but that's just part of the expense of owning an animal. If you can't afford to do it right, don't do it at all.

Yeah, well look at the epidemic of human obesity here. I guess you can't expect the average person to feed their pets any better than they feed themselves. Cheap cat food is like mac'n'cheese for every meal - cheap & easy. Our bunch eat what our vet recommends, and I will literally go hungry before the cats do. We just lost our oldest cat, Herman, Thursday. With proper diet & care, he lived a long, happy life of 20 years.

I know this wasn't meant to be funny, but I just find the whole idea of reading this news here hilarious. Anyway, I happened to be a cat owner myself, so thanks for the heads up.

I have 110 lb. Alaskan Malamute but we feed her cats, yip dogs, and Jehovah Witnesses so everything's cool here.

Thanks for the warning! I have four cats & a dog and I'd hate to find out I was feeding them something that could kill them.
Here's the site that gives specifics:

fett: I'm sending some J.W.s down your way. They breed like rabbits up here. Thanks.

I found something that actually works. I say, "Hey! Michael Jackson is a Jehovah Witness isn't he? Do you think I could meet him? You guys all go to conventions together right?" Then I start talking at length about how I love Michael Jackson, etc. I even invited one guy in to listen to 'Dangerous' - he'd try to start talking to me, and I'd go, "Wait! Listen to this part!" - sing the drum part, play air guitar, etc. - They haven't bothered me much lately.

If I can save even one pet, you can laugh all you want! ;)

Great dog! How about those annoying door-to-door Kirby vaccuum cleaner salesjerks? I'd love to give you a few of those guys!!
Dia, thanks. The recall list wasn't up yesterday.

Vets have known about pet food causing kidney failure for some time. The salt content alone is outrageous. I think I mentioned Doc Harlan chewing a piece of my moms dogfood and telling her that. Freaked me out but at the same time I thought damn what a cool and dedicated old dude. Anyway, this causing it so rapidly is new.
One other thing, do not just feed your pets soft food. That will ruin thier teeth. I don't care how much they ankle rub, you have to let those JWs leather up a bit in a back closet first. Actually I feel guilty about saying that. The little old black lady that comes by here is the sweetest thing.
Anyway, get your pets urinary tract care dry food. And sweep that dead mouse off your doorstep already.
