Ooh, now there's some late evening news, sweet! I don't assume any of them are largely spoiler-free though, right?
Edit: As expected, not much in the way of spoilers in the video interviews. Some minor stuff in the Gameswelt one, but that's it.
Ok, I've really been meaning to ask for some time now and I do realise it's kind of a prickly thing to say, but - why do they keep tossing Belletete out for the promos? The guy may well be a great artistic director, at the very least the game's visuals look the part in what we've seen so far, but he's
horrible at talking about shit. His pacing is all neurotic and stuff and he just can't seem to go ten seconds without saying "like, err", "err kinda", "you know" and other such. It just gives the impression he's
on something.

I'd expect a solid release date announcement after Square Enix's end of fiscal year results go out. The delay's entirely about them figuring out which quarter of their fiscal 2012 to shore up, not 'additional polish.'

I vomited after watching this. However, I got "to see my character do COOL THINGS".

Just got an e-mail from Amazon saying that the new expected release date is December 31, 2011. However, I suspect this isn't true, and they're just inserting an arbitrary date to deal with the passing of the March release date. I mean, NOBODY releases games on December 31st (except Sega).

Just watched the interview with Jacques-Belletete and trailer. Man there was a lot of 3rd person in that trailer, maybe more than 1st person. Seems like the cover system effectively lets you see around corners, which would take some of the suspense out of the action. I hope the player has full control over when you take cover, so you don't automatically "stick" to every crate you bump up against. The 3rd person takedowns aren't my style, but I could probably convince myself not to be bothered by them.
I haven't followed the development of this game for almost a year, but I thought the early game art we saw was more Blade Runner. Apart from some obvious 21st century bits (wire fences, cardboard boxes) the overall look seems to be more futuristic than Deus Ex. Almost ST:TNG at times. And too monochromatic and too bloomy. It was like watching a trailer through a pair of Ambervision (tm) glasses with spooge on the lenses.
One more thing while I'm griping: there were a lot of crates in the footage I saw. I haven't seen that many crates in a trailer since Quake 2.
I am encouraged by the comments suggesting a city/hub centered level design. Sounds a lot like Deus Ex. Now if they can provide alternate routes that don't involve sewers and ventilation ducts, I'll be impressed. Especially ventilation ducts; I think the previous games have used them to the point of cliche.

I am worried about the 3rd person / cover / QTE..
Games with cover system almost always give away when a fight is coming up by a sudden onset of waist height objects littered around an area (Gears of War, Mafia 2 etc..), third person takes away the need to look round corners. Some say it is less natural, but I liked in DX how, just like in real life, you *risk* leaning out to see what's going on based on what you can hear. The TPP just takes away that entire element of immersion. No need to listen out, you can just move the mouse around and magically see over the balcony. Likewise the see through walls mod will be rendered partly redundant.
The QTE's will also take away from the feeling of having to be in the moment and ace the timing. Many's the time in DX I wait for ages in the shadows so that I can sneak up at the right moment and aim a blow at the back of a sentry's neck. The raised heart rate and excitement of hoping that they go down quick enough to prevent raising the alarm? Gone. Press button, always works. I didn't mind it so much in Alpha Protocol, but that's a TPP game and the gameplay was more shallow overall, with the complexity coming from skill system and conversation trees. This is supposed to be DX.

Do some homework, all of these systems are entirely optional.
