Thx, we'll fix it

While your at it Raf, where you encounter a spider in one of the rooms, there is a couple of planks of wood which make a walkway into the room. During a fight with one of those spiders, I accidently fell through the floorboards and couldn't get back to that level again.

Hey Raf, I should point out that this is not an isolated incident. I have since been able to do this in both of the other levels. It seems pretty much anywhere the ceiling is low enough to reach and I can find (or make) a 'ramp'.
I can think of two general ways to fix this. One, of course, is to tweak the collision detection to prevent the player from going through in the first place. But this could be much easier said than done.
The other way would be to make the objects (ceilings, walls, and floors) one-way. For example, if you do manage to get through the ceiling you would just fall back through. This could be used both as a backup and as a stop gap till the collision detection is fixed.
And man is level 2 interesting! ;) If I could just figure out how to get back in! :ebil:
[Edit]Here's a spoiler screenshot from level 2.

Hey Raf, stalactites are the ones on the ceiling, right? :p Though I can't remember right now which he said.

Are you hinting that you have talked to other characters?
How easy is it to get out of the celing? Does it take a lot of messing around?
Are the other areas as atmospheric as the fort?
Are there any items in the other levels?

Interesting that there's a circular region in the centre of the map that you can't get to. Kind of reminds me of Underworld :)

Are the other areas as atmospheric as the fort?I've only seen half of level two and there are two places that definitely qualify, maybe a third. So it's a good bet that there are others, as well. And it's not the same kind of atmosphere as the outpost. The level also has several quite humorous points.

Are there any items in the other levels? In level two there are several items that aren't found in the other two levels, and no, I'll not say what they are. :p Also, in levels one and three I have found no areas or items that aren't accessable by normal means.

How easy is it to get out of the celing? Does it take a lot of messing around?I'm not sure if you mean getting up through the ceiling or getting back down, so I'll answer both. :) It rarely takes more than five minutes to get up through the ceiling. In levels one and two this includes setting up the 'ramp'. But the hard part isn't really the getting up through the ceiling, it's getting back into the level that requires imagination and logical thinking. And on each level it's different. Using stairs will take you to which ever level they lead to, and once in the new level you're no longer on the ceiling. (You can still use the stairs when you're on the ceiling, or even under the floor.) But, in the case of level two you can't use the stairs to get back to it.
It is
possible to come up through the floor but the conditions are rarely right. I was able to do it in the outpost by standing on the ceiling of the first floor and jumping through the floor of the second story. But thats the only place that has something to stand on, which you need in order to jump. Hmm, though it does give me an idea I'll have to try.
On a side note, you can actually interact with stuff you can reach when you're under the floor, but not when you're on the ceiling. Which reminds me; I found a piece of wood that I used on the broken lever in the cell block but it doesn't do anything but make noise. Also, I haven't yet found any way to open the door. Though there is a key that I haven't found a use for.
Ooh, and that reminds me of something else. You can actually open your cell door from
inside your cell! :wot: You gotta get right up next to the door, lean to your left, and then, while you can't quite see the lever, you can activate it! I guess this is technically a bug,
but, if you look at the layout, a person could reach the lever from inside the cell.
Anyway, there are ways of getting off the ceiling without using stairs. I've found the one such way in level three, which I mentioned earlier, and can only be used once. And I've only found the one way in level two, which can only be used a certain number of times (don't know how many.) It took quite a while before I figured out how to get back into level two.

Yesterday, I installed UW1 and UW2. I had never played
any Ultima before. :erm: So I don't know what the maps look like yet. Wow, if I had come across these games when they were released...
UW2 doesn't like running in DOS box though. The Graphics are messed up. I'll have to try it from true DOS mode.
Sorry if I'm rambling, I haven't slept for about 30 hours... :eww:

In all fairness the beta testers have a whole game to test, we don't even have a whole level. I really doubt I would have found this bug if I had the whole game. Partly because I just wouldn't have spent so much time messing around. Though my method of beta testing is fairly random. Also, just because the beta testers find a bug doesn't mean it's going to get fixed right away. ;)
The conversation between the two goblins just north of the cells is also a tribute to UW.
That's odd, I can't seem to stand on stools...:erg: They also don't like to stack. In level one I was able to put three stools all in the exact same place.
I take it you threw the chair and the stone block? Where's the skull? :cheeky: Oops, I forgot about the plate. :cheeky:
The first time I got out of the cell block was with just the bench. I threw it at the wall behind what's his name and it 'landed' at an angle half way up the wall. Of course in order to get onto the bench at this point I needed a little... help. Did you know you can jump up and stand on your cell mate? :cheeky: You can also stand on the arrows in the outpost walls. You can stand on the dog... giddee up, little doggie. :laff:
I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who's crazy enough to try all this stuff. :D Though, I'm also kind of glad to know I appear to be the only one to get back into level two. :joke:
