Once again going back to, 'I modded MW and made a guy who has no legs, so he's really slow and can't hold much and sucks at combat, but I have to really try to defeat monsters! I call him the 'Crippleo!'...'
ffs
What I was referring to, was the lack of 'flair' or enjoyment in using magic. You shoot this orange turd looking thing at an opponent who probably happens to be trying to walk around a chair thanks to MW's wonderous AI.

Playing a pure wizard was never that hard to me. In fact at some time of the game arround level 15 when i started to fly all the time i didnt require any legs. :cheeky: Well perhaps to jump over some mountains with the jump spell in particular the Dagoth fence. :cheeky: Jumping is so much faster.
However i think the game is missing more specific quests and more magical effects for wizards. Most of the quests are much better for warriors than any other class. Thats why i droped the wizard at level 30.

Bah to you all. I reckon a lot of you are missing the point.
I don't like RPGs in general, but I love Morrowind (I love Fallout as well, but that's another story). I have very little patience for stats. I just chose my character based on what seemed fun at the time, with little thought. And that seems more to me like proper role-playing? Rarararar I did the maths and now I have teh bestast guy in teh hole foreast! Rather take whichever you fancy and play to their strengths and weaknesses. So what if it's not the 'best' available? Hopefully you'll come up with some crazy stories to tell in the process. Gandalf, if you want to be a mage then be one. You'll never have to fight an uberwarrior player, so why should it affect you?
(again this is why I didn't like joining lots of guilds - I united the Mages Guild and Telvanni, but no-one else.)
Oh, and by the way: I easily did the game with my crazy custom mage character. I was very stealth oriented - lots of invisibility, chamelon, etc. With that, telekenesis and the 100pt lockpick spell there was really very little that could stop me. Combat wasn't a problem either, despite an almost total absence of offensive spells: I enchanted a sword to damage for 15 seconds, etc, blah. So, I'd wander invisible, suddenly pop out of nothing, whack them with the sword, go invisible and watch them ran around going 'owww!' before appearing behind them again, and so on. It was suprisingly effective, but always tense, so it didn't get boring.
And ph34r my Telvanni tower full of crazy unique artifacts/trophies/whatever. I found this to actually be the best bit of the game - hoarding. Getting little odds and ends (or enormously valuable odds and ends ;)) all with little stories attached. And showing them off, of course ;). I have a huge library of scrolls and books filling up a couple of rooms in my tower :D

Aye!
I've always liked the battlemage, ever since Moraff's World! He was always the toughest guy etc, and I liked being big, smart, good with a sword, and have a fireball!
I would roleplay either a drunkard or a warlord usually (See: Everquest for Drunkard. See: Morrowind for Warlord... of course my title in EQ was warlord, but that's a different story)... Just going around doing my thing,
But honestly the life of a pitiful mage never interested me in Morrowind, nor did a life of a sneak. Hitman 2, thief etc is good for sneaking, but MW... /shrug... give me a sword.
To each his own.

Tuco.... AHEM:

http://img.ranchoweb.com/images/glok/mwinv.jpgI challenge you to a fight if Morrowind ever goes multiplayer, Tuco. I have spells that paralyze
and do fire/shock/frost/damage health... now how are you gonna chop me up if you're paralyzed? ;) Playing a mage is certainly viable, and you can own ass if you know what you are doing. btw, my long blade skill is only that high because I trained it up, since an ineffective last resort weapon is like no weapon at all. I use magic almost exclusively. :)

Firstly, I accept your challenge(although I think I deleted Tuco a while ago).
Secondly, MW isn't going to get released in mplayer by Bethseda.
Thirdly, time for peeing contest.
Honestly, in Tuco's uber state, you wouldn't be able to kill him unless you could deal about 200 dps. He has 1100 hps, and regens hps like mad. Honestly, even though my daedric dai-katana can outdamage any spell you could possibly make, I don't think I could kill Tuco without breaking his regen gear first.
I could also put on reflection gear that I made before anyone really knew what it was for, I probably threw it away because it was so powerful. Basically, it would direct all the stuff you could muster, and reflect it back at you.
You wouldn't be able to paralyze me or hurt me with magic in my reflection gear, and you wouldn't be able to hurt me in my regen gear...
All things fair, if you pit me against myself, the end result would be the same.

LOL dude, I was just trying to point out that mages can be uber too, even at the beginning and even against reflect beasties. And unless you have 100 reflect, I would kick your ass. ;)
Morrowind will never be multiplayer, I know, but it was just one of those useless internet challenges. :) Feel free to punish me if Bethesda ever make a multiplayer Morrowind. :)

I don't think so LOL. I can deal 400 damage in a few seconds with my best custom spell. I played a nord warrior and used an enchanted daedric dai-katana. That was nothing compared to the damage I can dish out with my mage. I even added 2 lvl 80 skel warriors and a lvl 100 skel mage to my Telvanni stronghold dungeon so I can have a little fun once in a while.

That's interesting, how many seconds exactly, and how much of your 700 mana does that take?
Also, does it have an area of effect thingy?
Is it a projectile?
the interesting thing about the MW combat magic system is that the magic projectiles are so incredibly slow, that anyone with 50+ speed can dodge them quite easily...
Basically you would need a good size area of effect damage spell aimed at the ground (think Quake or TFC) to hit me well, boosting the mana/chance to cast, anything else you'd have a 'terrible' time hitting me.
Just as you don't behave like the AI, I wouldn't charge at you in a straight line =)
So what exactly is this 400 dmg custom spell?
[/pissfight]

I have a few of them. Basically they are all combo spells, usually a direct damage + absorb health over a few seconds in an area of 20 feet on either touch or target and some of them also paralyze. You can cast a spell about every 3 seconds, so there is no point in making a spell last longer than that. I have a few spells I called 'lances' because they have a very small radius of effect. I use them to snipe baddies from a ways off.
Yeah they use a lot of my mana (200 or so per cast), but that's ok because Nalcaryna in Balmora has infinite exclusive restore magicka potions (plus I added infinite potions to one of my stronghold vendors with the editor)
Like I said, I'm not trying to get into a pissing contest with you, but I have been very successful playing a mage. It was a little hard before I got my glass armor because I had an armor rating of 11 and before I had a huge majicka pool (I had the difficulty slider at +50 since the beginning though...), but after that it was freaking easy. You don't have to be a warrior to own in Morrowind. :)
-edit- I should also add that my mage is a whole hell of a lot more fun to play than my brute nord was. None of this *thwack thwack dead* over and over and over crap. ;)

Definately...
Also, playing a game while knowing where all the uber l3wtz are makes MW so easy =D
