I'm more likely person 4 million to do this one, but here goes: I kept trying to steal all those cool soulgems being watched over by the head female mage in the Balmora mages guild. Needless to say my attributes are all too low and it was utter frustration. I sauntered in one day with a smidgen of cash & bought the anti magic robe. I then proceded to steal all the gems in a big hurry while she & her cronies bombarded the hell out of me. I scarfed all the gems, and bolted out the door. I then dropped all my hot goodies and turned myself in to the nearest guard. My bounty was a whopping 200 shekels! Great return for that 60000 shekel soulgem with the hairy golden dude I've never even seen yet! Now all I have to do is find some other mage to enchant goodies for me! Or pull the creeper bit to bankroll my next 5 levels!

The easier way of getting all those soulgems (and the most used iirc) : Join the Mages Guild and do the first two tasks for Ajira (the Khajiit in Balmora Mages Guild). The second task will have Galbedir (the girl with the soulgems) go down to the bottom of the guild and leave all her soulgems unguarded.

I must be the only person not to have stolen those soulgems... though I did steal the limewear platter thing. I just didn't see a point in taking them, since I knew I was never gonna do anything with them. I raise my skill by recharging stuff with petty soulgems filled with rat/cliff racer souls. And any items worth enchanting are gonna get used with a golden saint/ascended sleeper soul.

I didn't steal them this time around...
I stole the soul gems with my first character but I didn't have enough money until level 12 to use the best soul gem to enchant an item with. No merchants have the money to purchase the better items off me and I hated the fact that I couldn't (from that point on) get any items enchanted by Galbedir because she thought all of the gems were her property.
No, those soul gems are best left alone like Kilana said you'll only bother spending money on enchanting when you use a grand soul gem with a golden saint/ascended sleeper soul.
Only my opinion though... :erg:

The Limeware Platter is actually not owned, so you can safely take it and sell it to her :p

I didn't save the path when I did it, I figured I have the knowledge now to use whenever, lets post and get opinions...... since I don't belong to the mages guild anyways, no loss there, secondly I had Galmora or whatever her name is up to 92 on persuasion, after paying my fine I went back in and it was still good......:joke: I could just haul off the gems to some other enchanter can't I? Don't tell me she is the only one, it seems I've seen others. I'm still new to all the soul trapping and all. I just realized last nite that the more expensive gems actually already had a trapped soul in them. I just thought they were advising you of what size stone held what type of soul. I just broke level 13 so I still get killed and reload an awful lot. I was mainly thinking of getting something enchanted to collect souls much easier because 9 times out of 10 the whole process of casting a spell, then equipping a weapon and then actually killing something and ending up with it's soul ends in utter failure and the old familiar line "latest save blah, blah, blah....... my adventures are like the last dwarven ruin I went into last nite (southeast of Calmara) Get the C$$P kicked outta me, reload 7 times, sit and commiserate a while, come up with a different way to do it, and when/if it works, realizing there was VERY little to find in the whole place. I did end up with those sauntering boots tho.....

Oh don't worry there are loads of other enchanters around you can use it's just i didn't think it was worth stealing them from her this time around for the reasons stated in my last post.
Don't bother enchanting something with soul trap try paralyse instead - it'll come in far more useful and gives you the time you need to cast other spells.
I was recently given a nice amulet of Adomination (sp?) of the rogue Telvanni wizard in Gnisis which fires a ranged paralyse spell (30 seconds) coupled with frost damage for the same duration - very handy. :)
At level 13 you should be kicking ass where are you going which gets you killed so often? What character class are you?
