Ooh, nice! I haven't been following the development of Mafia 3 lately, so thanks for posting this!
It
looks really good to me, and the open world stuff sounds exciting, but the action bits look quite standard to me. Not bad obviously, but it's hardly revolutionary or anything either. I can already imagine how some people in here will hate the game because of the one-button takedowns and stuff. The car chase near the end looks particularly bad with exploding cars and everything. Bleh. Also, I'm slightly concerned about what Haden Blackman had to say about Mafia 2:

We really tried to keep true to Mafia 2... Mafia 2 was known for its really engaging story.
Really engaging story? Hmm. As much as I liked Mafia 2, I thought that the story was its weakest part, and probably the only reason why the game felt like a slight disappointment compared to the first game.
Well, that was a pretty negative post, but I'm still very much looking forward to playing this game. If they can come up with an interesting and coherent story, and perhaps tone down the action a tiny little bit, then here's a real contender for my GOTY 2016!

My interest is well and truly piqued. I loved the first two, and the way in which they tied Mafia II to the first game was both inspired and shocking.

I like that they made him shoot with left hand as well for historic accuracy. The psychedelic colorful club and some architecture was also really nice looking. Shame that it's a game all about murdering people brutally. :/
They also use some music in that game that I've listened to too much at this point. But it does fit the time period quite well.

Not just embargoed, they're not sending review copies out until it's released. Definitely a wait and see, this one.

Hmmm. Usually code for "game sucks". That said, Mafia II was a disappointment so I didn't have great expectations. I'm genuinely more excited about the prospect of replaying the first one.

I was hoping for a return to some of the more compelling aspects of Mafia 1, like a decently told story with interesting missions, but it has seemed very open-world-by-committee from the marketing materials, and it's not like we have a dearth of those these days.

From what I've seen in the gameplay videos, the game is going to be a tedious grind of taking over the districts.
Plus, it seems like there is a caravan of people and supplies hiding in every bush, because at any moment you can call for any kind of help - and in the videos the character does it without any kind of communication device - and it immediately arrives! And then we have an ability to see through walls and god knows what else...

30 FPS might be playable, but it's still kind of crappy for an action game. I hope they will fix that. But if it's the only problem with the game, this is great news.

Game's out on Steam and all I see are melodramatic complaints about totally playable 30FPS, and absolutely nothing at all about the game's content. It's official, the PC master race is actually the more superficial one.
I thought that shark was jumped when DXMD was getting nothing but bad reviews because it has microtransactions that are entirely optional/unnecessary.
