And yet Pirates 2 was a great popcorn flick and you'll see the 3rd, both of which to me are complete shit.
Just shows you cant really judge anything. To me, at least 300 lived up to what it was supposed to be, and there (hopefully) wont be a sequal just because it made tons of money.
Er, okay, chief. I went to see Pirates based on the trailers because it looked like the sort of popcorn I could enjoy. 300 looks like popcorn that I couldn't enjoy. Simple fucking preference. It's not that difficult.

STOP MIXING THREADS
And 301 could be like the Frank Miller version of Heathers. There's a new nerdy fairy of a recruit, and the 300 have to shame him into a testerone-pumped, nudity-loving, frequently yelling Spartan.

Wouldn't the sequel be "Zero.... they're all dead so how the frick are we going to do this?"

FIFTY MILLION: PERSIA STRIKES BACK
Aerothorn on 22/3/2007 at 00:27
I think Persia actually had only 20,000 or so guys there. Pretty much everyone agrees that Herodotus was full of shit.
But yeah, 50 million would be more entertaining so they'd probably go with that.
Or they could make a film about the far future, where Xerxes has been reincarnated as an AI program that is taken over by...oh, wait.

I may be wrong, but from what I recall reading, many sources, despite not getting around together in setting the -exact- # of troops, most were usually agreeing that it was 100,000+. So, yeah, pretty much a fuckload for the Spartans :).
btw...301 = win
Vigil on 22/3/2007 at 11:28
The same sources tend to agree the Spartans had rather more than 300 on their side as well.
BEAR on 22/3/2007 at 12:59
I thought it was fairly recognized that there were 300 or so spartans but quite a few thousand other greek peoples?
Vigil on 22/3/2007 at 13:44
That's what I meant, yes.
Mr.Duck on 22/3/2007 at 14:43
Quite so, apparently the number of reinforcements go along the way of 5000, or so. Still a minuscule force compared to the Persian army.
:)
