I only play Thief on my computer, preferring the PS4 for dedicated gaming. However, if I were to buy/build a machine, what should go under the hood? My understanding of Intel CPUs is that they are not game-certified. IOW, they're build for business use. But, I can't keep up anymore.
So, what should I get to really get the maximum experience for Thief, and maybe a few other titles?
* CPU
* Video Card
* RAM
The other stuff, I don't really care about. Deathstalker keyboards that glow green don't interest me.

Just for Thief? Literally any PC from at least the past 5 years will do fine! :p

At least what I've run FM's on in the past
CPU-Core 2 Duo 2.6 gig
4 Gigs of Ram
1 Gig Geforce 620 video card
I'd say that would be the minimum now that New Dark allows far more detail to be built than previous FM's.

Lo ricebug. Well it all comes down to money dont it, how much do you have to spend ??. If you gave a a price range then i might be able to give some ideas.

Actually, I'm asking the question for someone else. Except for the venerable Amiga, I've built all my PCs.

Ricebug did you think about posting this in the Technical & Troubleshooting Arena forum? You might get better answers there than in the FM forum.

I can even play Thief 1 / 2 on a tablet PC with a tiny Intel Atom CPU. :p

I reckon biker will see it wherever it is but there are other knowledgeable people who don't frequent Thief so I am going to move it.

You're confusing Intel CPUs with Intel integrated graphics.
For real gaming, you need a proper, dedicated video card.
Still, even integrated graphics should have no trouble with Thief.
As mentioned above, it's all about how much you want to spend.
A good quick glance would be Tom's Hardware's "best X for the money" guides:
(

(
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-graphics-card-review,3107.html) Best Graphics Cards for the Money
Look at the recommendations in the price range that you are looking for, those are good places to start.
As for RAM, it's just "as much as you can afford to buy."
