A mugging victim in Brazil avoided a trip to the ER thanks to his trusty bodyguard, a seemingly bulletproof MBP. According to the image holder (who isn't the victim or MBP owner), the lappy continues to function, although it isn't clear to what extent. Obviously, popping caps to to the top, bottom, or not-so-centered spot on the side might result in a less a heroic outcome, not to mention a busted machine. As far as brawn goes, MBP ain't no Toughbook, but at least it took one for the team.

I like how after three hops(TTLG -> digg -> engadget -> some blog) I still didn't arrive at a proper goddamn article about this.
The Internet, regurgitating all news since 2003.

The new Unibody ones would probably resist it even better as the casing is one piece of laser/water cut metal, rather than stamped, folded and bent like the one in that shot (lol).

But stamping, folding and bending would make the metal tougher. You're right, though, the unibody would probably be tougher than the old MBP, because the metal is thicker.

Nice kidnappers who let you keep your notebook.
My EEE netbook is smaller, cheaper, looks cooler and runs any OS, not just OSX.
Oh and it catches bullets on a regular basis of course, taking turns with my mobile phone.

You kids today and your laptops. When I was your age, we had to catch bullets with our hands. And we liked it that way.

*sigh*
In my day .....
Bullets hadn't even been invented yet and we had to walk three miles just to be born. In a blizzard.

They'll probably invent some new front slung hipster laptop bag now specifically to double as a bulletproof vest.
