This is an odd nerdy problem few will care about, but whatever.
I recently bought a Mac (
http://store.apple.com/us/product/MB112LL/A/Mighty-Mouse?fnode=MTY1NDA1Mg&mco=MTA4Mzc5MDY) Mighty Mouse for fun, before they (
http://www.macblogz.com/2008/12/19/one-more-thing-apples-new-multi-touch-mighty-mouse/) go extinct. Yeah, I know. They're cool. What can I say? Disposable income: Disposed.
Anyway, getting to work with all features on windows XP is a bit of an adventure.
Here's someone describing it.

I'm sure this works great except, and this is the nub, it's a little out of date. The old version of AppleM pro (trial) isn't available anymore.
The new one is available to download (
http://www.trinityworks.co.jp/downloads/dl.php?f=AppleMProXP2.2.exe) here.
Trouble is apparently they got sick of the gaigins using it, so it checks you have Japanese windows before it lets you install it now.
Japanese XP isn't just a language option, it seems, as I don't have it (makes sense given the characters, keyboard etc).
Would there be any way I could bypass that check and make the thing install (even though I can't read what it says)?
Alternately, there's a laptop running Japanese Windows 7 (I think, or Vista), just across the hall. I can't go reinstalling my OS willy nilly at the moment, but is there any way accessing the driver on the other computer might help me?
cheers

I'll have a look when I get home, but I'm about 90% sure that the Mighty Mouse works fine in Boot Camp (running Windows on a Mac), so I'll try and dig out the drivers from there.

its does, the bootcamp cd comes with the window drivers for the mighty mouse, so you can use all the buttons including the funky 'nipple' scroll button.

Have you tried using Japanese as the default language for non-unicode programs (Windows 'Language options > Details' in xp if I recall) ?

I've just checked and my Mighty Mouse doesn't support horizontal scrolling when booted into Windows XP with Bootcamp. I double checked that I'd updated the drivers from the Snow Leopard DVD without any difference.
Nuts.

For some reason I can't stand the mighty mouse; it's mainly the non-button nature of the right click that drove me nuts. If anyone wants the wired mighty-mouse that came with my Mac Pro, let me know.

It is a bit of an aquired taste. You need a fairly wide stance, as it were. I find Logitec mice, for instance, way too narrow for my habitual grip. So these are ok for me.

Bummer. Thanks a lot for trying.

Mine only lists Indo-European languages. I don't know if you can get an update. My impression is that it's a whole seperate release, but I'm not certain.
I've heard people say it works completely in Vista or 7 (others disagree). I don't know if anyone's seen that in action.
