Ok when I was playing as my first and original character (who was deleted at lv7 in favour of my new character) i found that the enchanter 'Audenian Valius' (enchanter in the Telvanni waistworks) offers a scroll for sale that will open lv 100 locks. Now when i visited the same enchanter with my new character (to purchase the scroll for the first time) he didn't have the scroll to sell. :(
I've checked a number of times to make sure I haven’t missed it and even waited 24 hours etc to see whether he needed time to re-stock (even though i hadn't bought anything from him) - but still no scroll.
Has anyone else encountered this?
Most importantly can anyone recommend some where else I can get this scroll from?
Thanks. :)

I think there's a magician that has a wild open 1-100 spell in the Foreign Quarter Waistworks. I'm not sure about the Tevanni Works, though.

I found some in a bandit or smugglers' lair, but I don't really remember where. You can use spellmaking to make a spell like that, or use enchantment.

I have met the merchant you are talking about, and yes, at the time he did have a scroll for opening locks at level 100. I do not know why you are unable to find the same scroll with a different Char. though. Soryy.:erg:

Hmmm... i'm not impressed i mean apart from falling through the walkways around the FQ canton in vivec this is the first possible bug i've encountered.
Is it possible that i need to attain a certain level before he gets them 'in stock' or perhaps i need to do his stupid 'rat control' quest?
I also use pics cyclaud but at level 5 and with minor security skill level 100 locks are "to complex" for my pics :( .
Kroakie - the smuggler's lair is in Seyda Neen but unfortunately the scrolls only open 40 to 60 level locks :( .

I doubt it's a bug... I don't think the inventory of the merchants is set in stone. I think there is at least SOME degree of randomness to it, so it could be that he just has some other scroll instead of that lock splitter (I believe that's what it's called). I've found quite a few of those sitting around in smuggler caves and such, although I've never seen them being sold by a merchant.

There does seem to be a lot of randomness to the game especially at lower skill levels. I've killed AI and looked in thier inventory, just to see what they were carrying, reloaded with F9 and killed the same AI and they stuff they had the second time was totally different. Starting the game over with a different character may cause random inventorys in shopkeepers as well -- at least to some degree.

At first you'll only find scrolls of unhinging... later on you'll also find scrolls of "bloodywatzname"'s lock splitter. As for the merchants - they don't seem to be rather consistent when it comes to which scrolls they have - I haven't seen a lock splitter scroll for sale af far as I can remember... But why not just make the spells yourself?
