Lowest possible system Oblivion will run on. - by Schwaa2

An x850 or 7800GS should allow you to run the game at 1280 x 1024 with all options turned up and still experience very, very little lag. I'd go for the 7800 though. It's more expensive, but supports Shader Model 3.0. My x850 is also crap, but that's because all my technology hates me.

And that's because it would like to be evenly distributed - you can only use one rig to play at a time. If you would do your hardware the favour of giving it to someone without such thing, the hardware would be much happier. :cheeky:

My problem is with constant toggling the menus and pausing the game. I'm gonna need to find a way to have the game not pause when I loot containers.
I run it on 1.8ghz 9800pro 1gig ram. After some tweaking I average about 20 fps at medium detail in towns, lower in heavily wooded areas, and much higher in dungeons. The game is very playable, but it's still time for a new pc.

This game would so rape my face in places if it didn't pause when I opened my inventory...

Actually, I was thinking of selling my card for $200, then spending another $100 something on a 7800gs, heh.
Uncia, I do the same thing. I hate it. But on the plus side, I recently raided a necromancer cave. Each one had 20 to 30 strong potions of healing on them. I got 160 of 'em by the time I was doing killing them!

I have around 30 Strong potions of Healing and Sorcery, and my supply seems to be about as steady as my use. That combined with hitting Master in Alchemy means I hardly ever use it any more; I have +100k gold, I don't need potions for gold either.
Maybe I can find some snazzy recipes online and make potions I could actually use. Like paralyze.

Will my system run it?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I know the game is out, but I still haven't gotten it. Worried my comp won't run it the way it was intended to be played. I got a custom built pc with an AMD 2500Xp+(1.82GHz)
1.5G Kingston RAM
PNY Nvidia GeForce 6600(AGP 8X with 256MB DDR)
80GB Hard drive
19in LCD Samsung Monitor with 3ms response time!
Will anyone please tell me if I would be able to run the game with graphics set on good or very high quality. Thanx

It's a 6600, not 6600 GT? You'd probably be okay on medium to low settings. I have the same CPU, 1 gig of ram, and my 6800 ran it okay on medium settings. I recently upgraded to a 6800 GT overclocked, and now I can run it good on somewhat high settings.

You can run it fine - my PC is much worse than yours except for the low clock speed. Whether you can run it on very high settings isn't certain, but I don't really see that it's worth holding off just so you can have some pretty lights and smoother objects.

Unless you're a big gamer (with only 900mhz, you probably aren't, or atleast you're only just getting started), I'd go ahead and get the 360 version. It runs about equal to my setup, but costs a good $1000 less. But if the construction set and fan mods really mean a lot to you, upgrade your computer.
What setup are you using?
I have a system that cost about $1550 (not including the monitor or headphones or keyboard - just the computer), and it doesn't run nearly as well as I heard it runs on Xbox - even with some settings turned down and it optimized using the TweakGuide, I get 15 FPS in forested areas.
