Lots of Money Equals High Strength. Get Both - by RyushiBlade

... I'm wondering if this has already been posted. This isn't a cheat, though I don't think the creators of Morrowind really wanted you to do it this way. This is mainly for the XBox version.
Your first order of business is money. You should try and find The Mudcrab Merchent (look online. It's hard to say where he is without a map; somewhere east of Baal Fel or however you spell it...) This Mudcrab has 20,000 gold. This is the greatest amount of money an NPC has in Morrowind (XBox version anyway... I haven't played Tribunal.)
So what do you do? I'd recommend getting glass weapons/armor, orcish and daedric weapons/armor. The Daedric items sell for a lot, so just go into any of the Daedric ruins in Morrowind. Remember in shrines that if you steal the right item at the alter, a Daedra will appear.
Uh-oh... you're too weak. Those monsters just kill, don't they? No worries. You should sell the Mudcrab everything you have below 20,000. Then use that money to train your major and minor skills (long blade, short blade, etc.) Doing this, you can jump from level 10 to level 30 and beyond in no time. You may have to find the secret masters though.
So now you have, say, a Daedric Battle Axe worth 80,000 gold. But oh no! The Mudcrab only has 20,000! What are you to do? You need to sell the mudcrab merchant your lower-priced stuff, anything from 1000 gold upwards. Then you sell him the expensive item (we'll use the battleaxe.) Switch screens and then buy 60,000 gold worth of your own items. Sell the battle axe for the 20,000. You now left with 60,000 gold of your other stuff... which you will sell. This was you get the full 80,000 gold. I've been able to get atleast 400,000 gold this way...
So where does the strength part come in? You can buy anything with money... You need to buy a spell from someone and the spell has to effect an attribute (strength, intelligence, etc.) It doesn't matter which.
With your incredibly large amount of money, go and trap a high-level monster in a grand soul gem. Golden Saints and Ascended Sleepers are the best. Now go and buy/steak and Exquisite Ring (it can't be any other type...) Enchant the ring with strength at 100 points, and set this to 'constant affect.' Now, whenever the ring is worn, you will have fortified your strength 100 points. Remember to also spend all that glistening gold on training too. This enables extremely fast level ups, even if it does waste your money very fast.
I've already enchanted two rings, an amulet and various pieces of armor/clothing. Not to mention pants that act like Icarian Flights (though granted, it's weaker. You don't go as far.) That's about it for my post... if anyone can give any specific information then I'd appreciate it. I do hope this hasn't already been posted...

It has been posted. Everyone knows how to exploit Morrowind. The trick is getting along without 'cheats'.
JoJangles on 5/4/2003 at 14:02
Honestly, if you're going to spend all that time in a single player game 'exploiting' morrowind, why not just add gold into your inventory via the console?
sneeksie on 5/4/2003 at 14:57
I don't see any "exploitation" or "cheats" It's so easy to get rich in this game that the developers must have meant it to be possible. Just recently I made a load with Creeper. I spent all the booty on alchemy training and now I can make cracker-jack potions. Then I went out and looted some more high-priced stuff and now I have about 350000 burning a hole in my pocket.
A warning though on using fortifying enchantments: Using constant fortify spells can be a double-edged sword. If your strength level is reduced due to disease or spells, you better have some restore strength potions handy when you take that ring off. And to restore it fully you will have to take it off.

Yeah, I learned that the hard way... It's been posted? Dang it. I spent all that time typing it... lol. Anyway, Sneeksie is right. I don't think it's exploiting the game at all. They wouldn't have let you make amulets to permanently fortify strength if they didn't mean for you to do that, would they? And the money thing? It's a little obvious.
Of course, as I said in the last thread I started, I'm bummed because no one holds much of a challenge for me... I beat Dagoth Ur without the wraithguard (and poitions of course.) I killed Umbra in two hits... And now I have his problem. That's why I'm probably going to get Morrowind (and Tribunal) for the PC. I heard there are some pretty tough plug-ins... I'd probably recreate my char by cheating (I already worked that hard to make him without cheating, didn't I?) and start a new character straight off the bat.
As long as we're on this whole fortified strength and everything, does anyone know how to restore your skills? I equipped a sword that takes away points from my Long Blade skill every time I use it and shrines wouldn't put it back to 100... So I ended up training my skill back to 100...
Oh, and Mr. Jojangles... I have the XBox version. So, I can't cheat even if I wanted to. I used common sense. This isn't cheating, because you can't cheat on the XBox version. It could, maybe, be considering exploiting the game... but I doubt it. Bethesda isn't that stupid.

Definitely get the PC version. One major bonus is a difficulty slider that was added in one of the patches. And yes, there are some very good plugins, and if you really want something special you can make it yourself. I added 2 level 80 skel warriors and a level 100 skel mage to my Telvanni stronghold dungeon, for example, and made the 4 stronghold merchants a little more useful, plus gave them ownership of all the goods inside their huts (it bugged me that I could just take anything they own). :)

And then you have the expansion packs... great! Well, as soon as I get over my financial difficulties (i.e., having no money) I'll buy the PC version. Yeah! Maybe someone will actually be able to kill my character in the expansion? And new stuff to explore... ... Yep. It looks like my char has a lot coming.
I think it's a little sad how easily I killed Vivec though... Maybe I'm just too strong for my own good, eh? Or too resourceful anyway.
And I've experimented and the best constant effect summon creature spell you can enchant on a ring is the Flame Atranach. Everything else is too much to enchant on a ring. I called this little creation 'Oblivion's Flame' (Oblivion being where the Daedra come from, Flame reffering to the Atranach of course. And I know I can't spell Atranach.)

RyushiBlade, just curious, but would you be able to use the same character? Can Xbox saved games be played on a PC?
Anyway I had the same problem of the game getting too easy for my previous character. I feel that when you get over level 40, you may as well do the main quest because everything else is a cakewalk. I "retired" my old character and have started a new one, and I'm not doing a lot to raise her level. I just buy training for her miscellaneous skills and let the major and minor ones develop as they will.
RyushiBlade on 5/4/2003 at 22:26
Ha, of course you can't import saved games from the XBox to the PC version. Not to my knowledge anyway. I'd just recreate my character (same name and look), then cheat to get all the armor and weapons I use. I don't usually cheat on games like Morrowind but I've worked hard on my XBox char.
I'm broke in Morrowind right now (I'm in the middle of collecting more loot. Gotta love Daedric ruins...)
Name: Ryushi
Level: 60
Species: Nord
Armor (299): Helm of Oreyn Bearclaw, Lords Mail, Ebony Right/Left Pauldrons, Fist of Randagulf (Left/Right), Eleidon's Ward, Daedric Greaves, Boots of the Apostle
Weapons: Chrysamere/Umbra (Daedric Crescent for tougher enemies)
Clothes: Froggers Pants (Enchanted with 100pts. to Jump for 4 sec.), Daemons Ring, Amulet of Strength and Ring of the Gods (all three fortify strength 24pts. constant effect).
Strength: 204 (I can raise it to around 4000... I have a LOT of mazte, sujamma, etc...)
Can carry: 1020
I'm an adventurer and barbarian ^.^;
... That should be easy to duplicate...I'm trying to get my armor rating higher but I can't find better greaves. I also found most of these on my own, then I realized most of what I'm wearing are artifacts so now I'm trying to get them all... And I'm only missing about 5 more from my collection.
This is getting a bit off subject, but are there new artifacts (or powerful weapons/armor) in Tribunal? Anyone know about Bloodmoon? I love my collection... Heh. They're so shiny.
sneeksie on 5/4/2003 at 23:14
Ryushi sounds like a real powerhouse. :thumb:
I've only played a little bit of Tribunal--still savoring Morrowind--but I know that you can get a really cool spear in Tribunal that has a constant-effect shield spell. Bloodmoon I know nothing about, I think it comes out in May.
What I wonder about Bloodmoon whether or not a Khajiit character can be a werewolf. I like playing Khajiits best but I can't see one turning into a wolf. I may have to switch to a humanoid character for that.
