I've been here for like 5 years and had 1 birthday thread (and that was unexpected), so don't feel bad. Such mass BD threads lack the significance of a good TTLG comm chat birthday thread. Its like saying "I checked the calendar and had the wherewithal to copy and paste the names here", rather than being unexpected and sincere.

That's what makes the traditional birthday thread good, I think its a trend we should consider, even if it doesn't result in BD threads for some.

Edit: it doesn't help that the calendar is full up with people who've posted so few times, and possibly not at all in a while. Makes it a bit of a chore.

I'd like to know who checks the 'birthday calendar' in the first place. I neither have the time nor the motivation to do so. Maybe they should automatically announce it like myspace.

That said, I fully support self-announced birthday threads because that's how it works in real life! "Hey dude, my birthday's next fri, wanna come to my party?" etc..

Hell, I don't even know my parents' birthdays, I know they're somewhere in feb...
