If the monster has a flashback I'll quit watching the series.

Dia -
I thought the pearl necklace was actually a dead giveaway that Jae jumped on his own, mainly because he realized that he'd never be able to be with Sun. Sun's father never even saw the pearl necklace, that we know of.
My thoughts exactly; the whole situation was bordering on slightly unbelievable (the truth not coming out at some point about Jae and Sun), but he obviously jumped because he could never see her again *tear*

I can't see it, myself. Jae doing a faceplant for unrequitable love doesn't ring true. And considering what we already know / guess about the way the writers <s>like to trot out utterly ridiculous and tenuous lol coincidence / conspiracy / isn't it WEIRD?????</s> do things, my money is on a third party pushing Jae out the window after Jin left.
$20 worth of FS if it was a DHARMA / Hanso / Widmore dude

Sayid is beginning to annoy me as well. He has some kind of ESP that tells him what's going on all the time. He noticed footprints on the dock and could tell that they were fresh and that the rest of the crew had been captured? His technical expertise was kind of cool in the first few episodes where they tried to get the tranciever working, but after that he kind of got tiring.
My favorite character is Locke. He seems to be the one we know least about. I'm still waiting to find out how he lost the use of his legs. And, for that matter, why he can walk again. I prefered the kind of mystical feeling of the first two seasons, where the island seemed to have a will of its own. Now it seems less creepy and atmospheric. Looks like the next episode will be a bit more interesting though.
Edit - I figured Jae jumped. I read in a detective comic book that when someone is pushed from a window, he'll tend to drop whatever he's holding inside the window. If he falls by accident, he'll drop it outside the window as he flails for something to grab onto. And if it's a suicide, he might hold onto something all the way down. The comic book was called Revelations, I think. The writer might have been pulling that out of his ass, but maybe not. Either way, I thought the pearl necklace meant that it was a suicide.

Wasn't Jae staying on like, the 2nd floor?
Not a hell of a long way to fall if you're going to try to off yourself.

I love being easily pleased. Makes this show so much more enjoyable when I can laugh at it while being engrossed, instead of just going "FFS!" and getting bored.
Thing I've had the most relief about this series so far is that the writers actually managed to write a few love-story scenes which weren't banal, cliched Hollywood crap - Sawyer/Kate has actually managed not to make me cringe yet. Which is directly in opposition to the horrific giant smoke-monster of a cliche that is Jin and Sun :tsktsk:
And Super-Sayid's just getting hilarious now. He finds tracks, he lays down webs of lies, he kicks ass, he knows absolutely everything that everyone is likely to be doing, he... uhh... fixes things! Tears of laughter ran down my face when he so deadpan uttered the line "I will take 2 hostage and kill the rest." Beautiful, Sayid, beautiful.

Seconded.
I found myself thinking that if Sayid was so damn good, how did the others get on the sailboat without his knowing? He seemed rather suprised when he realized they'd already boarded the boat.

Sayid > Rambo.
Also, about the Episode 3 preview:
I watched the American one YouTube (while I still can :tsktsk:). The American one shows Locke going to "Save Mr Eko's life". For anyone who has seen it, does it look like the smoke monster has Eko in a cave or something? Like where it tried to take Locke in the S1 finale. It appears the smoke monster attacks Locke judging by the end of it. I thought the monster had no beef with Locke and Eko?
Dia on 14/10/2006 at 22:54
I remember Locke being pissed off when his fellow survivors stopped the smoke monster from abducting him. He said something to the effect that he knew the thing wasn't going to hurt him.
Are we using spoilers or not?

Only if people talk about next episode previews.
