It was just a ground camera POV that went by real quick. It didn't actually show the black fog, but might also have possibly been the spider's POV. It's just that they typically use that odd '3rd person' camera that moves toward the characters when they're trying to convey the monster's POV.

I should clarify, we heard the smoke monster, but didn't actually see it. It was definitely that signature clicking sound the monster makes, we just usually see the smoke cloud to go along with it. Right after the sound finished, there were suddenly a bunch of spiders heading towards Nikki. My only guess was the creators are hinting the monster transformed into one or more of the spiders (much like other living beings it has imitated).

What living beings has the smoke monster imitated?
The writers set us up with Artz sayingthe female spider releases strong pheremones that attract lots of males very quickly.
I think the 'clicking' was a TV spider sound effect, not the ratcheting sound the smoke monster makes.

Eko's brother, some would say. Other might argue Jack's dad and Hurley's friend Dave.
The monster sound is absolutely there, my wife and I both heard it the first time through. Plus, someone over on The Fuselage said close captioning had the same description as times when the monster appears.

And Kate's horse and the 'Hurley' bird? Yeah, it could be.

Agreed. I also thought the clicking was the sound the male spiders were making; though I remember thinking it was odd since I've never heard a spider make that sound before. But then again, I live in Illinois and we don't allow that sort of thing here.
Oh do get a grip, fett dear.

That was certainly the monster sound, but it was much quieter than normal.

buried alive, you'lled think after 6 hours and no riga mortis someone would have noticed something, they didn't do a check to see wheather they were really dead, and barbie saying paralysed just before falling over.
They were buried in wetish sand, that stuff gets as heavy as lead, cant see them digging there way out of that.
But the fact they found the pearl, and the other crashed plane, within the first 6 days, and the walkie talkie several days later, and not telling anyone means they truely deserve the death they got.

The walkie talkie was clearly after they'd already started inhabiting the Swan hatch, since that was the camera that Ben pulled up to watch Jack. But all their other discoveries just had me saying "those FUCKERS" over and over again.
