What pressure plate puzzles are you referring to? I don't recall using any in this mission.

the tiles.

If you're referring to the tiles in the projection room, there's no pressure plate or other technical wizardry going on there (unless you count matrix algebra). It's just a perspective trick.
My guess is, if it isn't working for you, it's not a frame rate issue. Perhaps you're just off by a smidge (it's a little sensitive).

No, it's definitely a framerate issue. Once I enabled the 100 FPS cap, I had zero problems dropping the bolder onto the tile and opening the gate in those first areas. Try uncapping your framerate and you'll see for yourself. 9 times out of 10, dropping the bolder onto the tile wouldn't open the gate at 120 FPS. The Dark Engine (New Engine?) is simply not designed to run at 120 FPS, and you can get wonky physics going on if you try to. The cam_ext.cfg even warns you about this. Gamebryo engine-based games (Skyrim, Oblivion Fallout 3, etc.) had a similar issue. If you didn't cap your framerate at 60 FPS, you experienced weird physics problems. Anyway, it's all sorted now. I'm playing within recommended parameters.

Ah, you're not playing my mission, "Bertrand's Forgotten Tomb." You're playing Kurhhan's "Forgotten Tomb." (My bad on the naming, I wasn't aware of Kurhhan's mission at the time!)
If you like puzzles, give mine a try when you're done with Kurhhan's :)

Haha! Silly me. I
was playing the wrong mission :D Thanks for pointing that out. No wonder you were confused about the pressure plates. I gather they're very similar in the sense that both are extremely puzzle-intensive. I was playing Zelda: BotW recently and enjoying the puzzle-elements in the shrines (mostly physics-based and extraordinarily unique in gaming AFAIK) and wanted to try something puzzle-oriented with Thief 2. Sure, I'll give your FM a go... assuming I don't tear bits of my brain out through my hair and my scalp playing
this one ;)

Has anyone got a copy of Ricebug's walkthrough he made for this mission, if so could you post it please.
Thank you!

help with gate number 2

The puzzle with gate 2 is the one where the coloured tiles near the entombed Brothers are relevant for the solution. The strange form made of stones with buttons on one wall can be recognized as the rooms with the deceased Brothers. The colours and in which sequence to push the buttons is indicated by the coloured floor tiles.
If you can't find it out: The solution is Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Purple - just like the colours of the spectrum (or a rainbow). That means you have to press the button on the upper left first (Red), then the next one to the right and down (Orange), which is the button in the center. The third one is the one in the bottom right corner (Yellow), the fourth is the one in the center at the bottom (Green), the fifth is the one in the lower left corner (Blue), and the last one is the top right one (Purple). One of the gates should open once you pressed the buttons in the right sequence.
If you press a wrong button, you may most likely start with the one in the upper left corner again right away.

Hm I´m a bit torn about what to think about this mission. On one hand I absolutely enjoyed it because I´m a sucker for well-made riddles, but on the other hand some of the riddles were.. not so well-made.
I absolutely loved the coloured floor riddle and the riddle in the projection room with the numbers on the night sky. I was able to do them without any of the hints from the statue (I did check the hints afterwards though out of curiosity what the statues have to say) :D
The riddle with the pillars was very original, but I think it could have been done better. For example the 3 hints you get from the statue were useless for me. What they told me I already knew and what I didn´t understand was that I only have to push 3 out of the 7 levers. I was always trying to find the right order of the levers, it didn´t occur to me that not all of them need to be pushed. It would have been good if there was a hint that only the virtues are needed. The plague that you can see after you go through the three gates has exactly the hint that I needed. I was like "oh thank you captain obvious! I already had to look that up or how else would I have managed to go through the three gates?!"
The last riddle (the optional one) I don´t even know what to think about. I kinda understood the task, but I only had to push the number in the small box so the gate would open and then just randomly push the numbers on the two of the outside box. It was more a guessing than trying to solve anything.
I think the mission itself was rather cool, but I think a far greater job was done with the riddles in "Heist at Hilbert´s highrise hotel" :D :thumb:
