Hi folks, I recently needed the hard drive space for something else temporarily so I backed up my FMs folder to an external hard drive and deleted it from my Thief 2 folder. It seems while the FMs folder was deleted I accidentally started the game, FMSel saw no current existing directory, and now after copying the FMs folder back a few months later it seems to have lost all my info, ratings, dates played, custom tags etc that I had and everything is still missing once I copied the FMs folder back. Is there any way to recover this info that I am not seeing, for those of you who might be more familiar with FMSel, or does it just reset its settings and the info I had is gone forever once it notices there's no existing folders for FMs?
I guess, if I am screwed in this regard, it isn't the end of the world, my secondary question would be, what is the preferred FM selector that you taffers are using these days, since I suspect the one I was using, FMSel 1.1.2 has probably been out of fashion \ outdated anyway and it would be a good time for me to switch?
Thanks!

FMSel stores its info in the fmsel.ini file, which is located inside your FMs folder. Odd then that restoring your backup would result in lost info. You can see if fmsel.ini exists in your backed up FMs folder and open the file up to see if your info is there. If it is, then maybe just try re-copying just that file into your FMs folder in your Thief directory.

It's been quite a while since I've used FMsel; what I don't remember is if the ini is a 'hidden' file. If so, you might not have properly backed it up with the other FM files and then lost it.
That said, I've been using and keeping up with AngelLoader, personally. No complaints from me and many thanks to Fen for dev and support.
My fav feature is the ability to delete an FM I don't want to keep or duplicate from the GUI instead of hunting for the file manually. :thumb:

Thank you FenPhoenix ! I think what happened was I had accidentally opened Thief2 right while I was in the middle of copying over the FMs info and after it was done copying and I quit the program, it regenerated a new FMsel.ini and deleted the one I had just finished copying. Replacing it with the file from the backup hard drive did the trick, got all of my old ratings and tags back, very much appreciated :D
