One of my favourite YouTube reviewers, Lord Mandalore, has just published a review of Thief: The Dark Project / Gold.

Kind of hoped he'd have a section about his favorite fan missions but still glad he reviewed it!

He only mentioned the existence of them in passing, but he's doing Thief 2 next, so maybe he'll mention them some there.

He did mention in a comment that he likes Endless Rain and Catacombs of Knoss.

This review was really good, finally someone told it like it is about Thieve's Guild!
Also thank the lord he recommends playing it without any mods via TFix lite. I was very disappointed in Civvie11's videos on Thief: Gold where he used the awful prepackaged t2 textures and HD objects supplied by default on tfix.

Did you not see the sharp textures along with the muddy ones in his video?
If NDS's KEX engine somehow preserves the dark engine feel, maybe there is hope for a Thief Gold Enhanced.

I'm not sure if you're talking about Civvie's videos or this one. Civvie's definitely used the T2 texture mod, and this one definitely uses NO texture mod.
The Kex engine is really cool, and while I didn't like how buggy Blood: Fresh Supply turned out it at least shows the engine is competent and any game on it can probably reach a high level of quality if enough time and effort is put into it (thanks Atari...).

Off topic, but I wish people would tell me
which ones are awful so I could fix/delete them.

I do believe it's at least tangentially related to the topic, considering the video itself recommends staying vanilla for a first playthrough, so this is just a natural course of discussion afterwards :D.
Your EP objects aren't bad for a majority of them, mainly just the doors and some of the lockboxes look off to me as they're a bit too sharp and stand out. In truth I was thinking moreso of the OBJECT Enhancement pack that changes almost of all them visually, and I'm not too fond of it at all. Same deal with the textures, as some textures look fine, but some do stick out like a sore thumb for many of the same reasons. This is mainly due to the way the missions were built: a bit blocky and with specific color schemes/details in mind. I think the EP textures can look pretty good when designed with in mind, but the original game was not so it just feels off. Add on that it seems during the process of upscaling the textures some of them got desaturated, which is the same reason why using the T2 textures in T1 make the first game look worse IMO. I can give more specific examples but I should probably do that in a more useful thread for that or as a PM if you wish.
Anyway, who cares what I think I'm just some angry purist noob :thumb:. With regards to the video, I do wish he went more in detail about some of the other levels, as it feels like he stops discussing them after The Sword and goes into the storytelling afterwards. I would have really liked to hear his opinions on each level in order like he was doing earlier on. His opinion on Bonehoard is pretty interesting and I'd have to agree with it 100%.

I think the EP could really do with more purist feedback. I tried to go through and replace or delete some of the worst-offending objects, and I have a major update coming that fixes some of the saturation problems with T1 textures, but there's definitely still work to be done on that front.
But that's probably a discussion that should be moved to the (
https://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=140187) canon texture packs thread.
Yes, it's a shame that he didn't talk much about the The Lost City, The Haunted Cathedral, Undercover, and Return to the Cathedral.
He also seemed to have the same problem I had when I first played the game, not fully realising that the undead and non-human missions are all still stealth missions.
