Here's a bunch screenshots that I took during last week during the first pre-alpha test "weekend" thing. The main purpose of this testing "weekend" was to stress their servers, show their crowd-funding backers a bit of their progress so far, showcase house decorating and pimp the player housing you that you can pledge for (Star Citizen style).

They're treading on well-trodden ground by Ultima story-wise (just read the lore updates written by Garriott/Tracy Hickman in each weekly backer newsletter to get what I'm talking about. Eg (https://www.shroudoftheavatar.com/?p=30275) this.) and the graphics look like dated as hell. Unity engine is capable of cutting edge visuals. I guess they're wanting the game to run on any old shitbox, a la Blizzard games.

You can see some of the interesting things that they're trying, like with their conversation system. You actually have to talk to NPCs, there's no Mass Effect-esque dialogue wheel. They plan to through the players to wolves a bit more than most mainstream RPGs, eg have a quest log system that doesn't specifically tell you what you need to do via bullet points (instead they plan to give you story summaries, from what I gathered.).

I hope that they realise the ambition of delivering BOTH a solid story-driven RPG AND a classic UO-esque sandbox MMORPG. I'm much more concerned about the latter, but they have a strong legacy in the mainline Ultima RPGs from at least V-VIII.

As long as it is nothing like Ultima 9 then that can only be a good thing.

Man why are all those jpgs in the OP 2 megabytes? Their combined file size is comparable to the game's by the look of it.
