What's your point?
pnK on 24/10/2007 at 23:08
Do i need one ?
Kolya on 24/10/2007 at 23:15
Uh... I guess not.
In the game it's the same video file playing btw, just overlaid with another sound file.

Erg... SHODAN sounds retarded. That's about all. And even with my limited understanding of German, I hear this:
"blah blah blah Triotimum blah blah SHODAN blah blah cyberspace"
and it really stands out.
ZymeAddict on 25/10/2007 at 02:14
I don't get it.

The German version is brighter than the English version

At 1:20, you can see hidden swastikas in the data lines coming off SHODAN
pnK on 25/10/2007 at 11:54
lol :P
you should be careful though, by far not every german takes these jokes as lightly as i do. Really, most just get annoyed by it :)
For most germans today it's as if i would make jokes about how americans surpress the native americans but then again, i heard they still do :P
Anyways i did not meant the video, infact i really meant the sound overlay and i mostly created this thread out of boredom and to upset some people but i guess it didn't work.
But i really do like the german version better but mainly because it really was the first version i've ever heard and then got used to it. It was strange for me to hear the original voice years later but over time i've come to acknowledge the original one, too.

But I love making jokes about Americans oppressing the aboriginals. Don't forget our shameless exploitation of immigrants too, this country was built upon indentured servitude and slavery :)
I've never been one for rampant nationalism and have little sympathy for those who feel the need to take offense on the part of their country. My apologies if you felt I was picking on Germany, rather it was a carefully ironic statement based on the entire premise of this thread.
I have to side with catbarf, SHODAN sounds silly in the German version. More like some matronly frau than an amoral AI goddess.
That being said, the point at which SHODAN 're-examines her priorities' always gives me the shivers. So good.
