the last set of backgrounds i ever saw were when thief 3 dropped, i do remember some had redone with programs to look better on higher resolutions like t1/tg, not sure about thief 2
but have no idea if they still around

Have a look at your CD set. There is an extra section on it which contains the wallpapers mentioned (and some other goodies like mouse pointers etc). :)
