https://i.imgur.com/dfHuorS.pngThis might be a long shot and will probably backfire horribly, but at least I know some of the fine people here. So looking here first.
There's a small game I've been working on for some time now: a dark, low res pixel artsy narrative game with choices. It looks like a roguelike, reads like a visual novel. Imagine those tiny (
https://itch.io/games/tag-bitsy) Bitsy games and make it bigger, better.
I’ll be doing all the art, coding and design. The art style will be intentionally minimalistic, affording for quick iterations and simple animations (
note: what I posted in the “What are you making” thread is something entirely different). Gameplay will be mostly about walking around and interacting with characters and the world.
The game doesn’t seem to want to go away, so I guess the next step is getting help.
Who am I? I'm the (
http://redworks.sk) painter dude, the other one. Did some Dromeding years ago and lurk here all the time.
Who am I looking for?A native english speaker, as a proofreader, or, better, a collaborator to help me with a short branching story and the game design. I'm not entirely sure how this collaboration should work, but we'll see.
Maybe a sound/music guy later.
Genre? Story? Setting?I’m open to ideas. I’d love a Lovecraftian, Bloodborne-ish, touch of Thief tale of existential dread, it should be weird - the locations and characters will be.
Is this paid? If we decide to go commercial, yes.
Is this a waste of your time? Possibly? I’m the first to admit it’s tough being motivated for longer periods. I do have a working demo though, the most important coding is done. I’m trying to scale the project so that it DOESN’T take a year to make.
You’re interested, what now?PM me please, ideally send a short fantasy/horror story. Or just discuss here.
P.S. Mods, if this fits better into the Editor's guild subforum, feel free to move it.

Ooooh, sounds interesting. Story isn't my strong suit so I can't help you there. You should post the demo tho (or at least some video of it), just so people know you're the real deal. Good luck with this!

Yep, this looks cool. I'm interested, but I'll let other folks who're probably more about fantasy horror than I pitch in first.

Thanks. I'll show something to those interested in a collab. A video might be coming later, though all art is placeholder for now.

I've sent a PM. I'm definitely interested and I like to think that paying for a whole degree in writing has taught me how to string a few words together.
My career is dead in the water if it hasn't.
