It is confusing all the stuff that has come out over the years for thief. convict.osm, various custom scripts, patch this and that and Taffer patcher and on and on. Does anyone know if the latest patch 1.24 includes all the custom scripts and the convict thing? Is it that simple...patch to .I understand I must of course have my game up to v1.18 or whatever first. I guess what I want is a simple start to finish list of files I need so I can get them all in a neat little folder incase I need to re-install Thief 2 and make it ready for most available fan missions. Thank you in advance for any replies. Please don't reply with nickie's sicky thread because it is not simple at all. Not to me anyhow. I am not dumb , I'm just one of those people who complicate the simple and simplify the complex....I just need the steps after

2 Patch to 1.18

The new v1.24 NewDark release only includes the updated Dark engine and Dromed. What you want to use is just Tafferpatcher, which contains the 1.24 update and also other mods if you want them, in a simple installer.

Yes, you don't even need to install Thief 2 before using Tafferpatcher. Just have your disks ready and install with Tafferpatcher (or use Tafferpatcher on any existing install, including a Steam version). That's all you need for everything (including a mission loader, you don't need Darkloader anymore).

nickie...thanks but I was never totally gone. ;) As for your thread. I didn't mean to demean your effort to explain what needs to be done to get a taffer taffing. I was just wondering if there was a simple all in one which seems to be the taffer patcher. Thanks.

I have another question..if I install the almost 1Gig HD pack is there any reason to install the Enhancement pack..(its around 7-800Mb). ? Is it even needed with new dark out now. I have the latest..1.23 I think..I know 1.24 is out..but it is not much more.

NewDark is the engine and Dromed only, it doesn't contain any updated resources like textures or objects.
The HD pack is textures only, whereas the EP is mostly objects. There is some overlap in terrain textures probably, but you'll want both if you want the full HD experience.
