Looking for a film, again...

Seeing as how the members of TTLG are quite skilled at naming films from just a few details, I again ask for help finding the name of a film. :cheeky:

The film is science fiction I believe and apart from remembering the first few minutes vividly, I can't recall anything else.

An guy is left stranded or maybe abandoned on some planet. The planet is inhabited, nearby I think there's a village or something, because he bumps into one of the locals, a girl. I think the planet is a bit run down or something, because he helps provide a clean water supply by building a filter so the polluted water is drinkable. Obviously the guy must have some skills, so he may have been in some spacefleet. An memorable scene is that after the guy builds the water filter, he tests it by drinking the local polluted water and the girl looks horrified, he then plays dead to scare the girl, but they end up laughing about the obvious joke.

After that I can't quite remember what happens and this may just be me filling in the gaps, but I believe the guy helps make the lives of the inhabitants better, by providing leadership and his technical skills and fighting off the bad guys of more 'richer' towns nearby. Happy ending.

Doesn't ring any bells. But there is one with Patrick Swayze, about a lawman in an apochalyptic era.

It is a desert planet, lady is having a war with a big boss water baron. She has a private water supply. The pump/well gets damaged and Swayze repairs it, gets rid of the boss, and goes on about the business of being a policeman.

It is called "Steel Dawn", (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0094033/)

One of the sword and naked chest type movies.

Hmm, could be, the water bit seems to fit. I did a search on this and turned up another film called 'Steel Frontier' that has some similarities. Also set in a post-apocalpyse world, after WW3, resources scarce, subsistence community out in desert, roaming gangs and a 'hero' type figure. But there's mention of a water filter, but can't be sure if its this one either. :erg:

Now it's my turn. Movie made in Australia probably in the Mad Max period. Apochalyptic era, drugs are the coin of the day.

Pocket pool hustler ala "the hustler" where the table setup is a "Queen, or Crown Rack", and the loser gets a finger chopped off by a special device.

A "Crown" rack is where the corner balls from the base of a fifteen ball rack are moved to the top and placed at the join of the second and third row. So you end up with 1, 2, 5, 4, 3 for the rack.

I thought it was called "Hard Knuckles" but I can't find referrence in IMDB.

I had a copy but it was stolen from me back in the early 80's

I'm pretty sure you're remembering the film: New Eden. :D

I remember two movies without actually recalling their names, one a western movie in which a group of cowboys were searching for some cursed gold treasure and find also a woman on the way there, which happens to be the devil in disguise and kills them all in the end, what is the name of the movie?

The second one, a group of scientists, (probably a Brit movie but I'm not really sure about it) gets kidnapped with house and everything into space, after a long trip in which they realize they're no more on earth but flying across space inside their house, they arrive to some sort of space lab in which they're tested to determine if their species is smart or not, the ending is a big blur so I don't remember how it ends, what is the name of the movie?
