Besides, Californians have forfeit any right to make judgements about food without help from transient Canadians.

Well, those two weeks at the BNL have been cancelled so I'm already in Berkeley. Unfortunately I feel like shit at the moment, bloody jet lag... :( At least I hope it's only jet lag.
Ehm you shouldn't get jetlag coming from east to west... At least not really. Did you get to sit next to the nutter in the plane or next to the sick woman?

I'll do my best, Duckeh.
Fafhrd's Quick and Easy In-N-Out Burger Recipe
Ingredients:
1 Five Dollar Bill (American)
1 Means of Transportation
1 Location of a Nearby In-N-Out Burger
Preparation:
1. Take Five Dollar Bill and place in pocket (a wallet or purse or money clip will also suffice)
2. Enter the Means of Transportation and ride/drive/pedal it to the Location of a Nearby In-N-Out Burger.
3. Walk through the doors of the In-N-Out Burger (some people think that using the "Drive Thru" is acceptible. These people are wrong.)
4. Remove Five Dollar Bill from pocket and approach the ordering counter.
5. DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP! Place Five Dollar Bill on counter and utter the following phrase: "One Four By Four for here" ("One Four By Four To Go" will also work)
6. Hand Five Dollar Bill to the Cashier, collect Change and Receipt (hold on to the Receipt)
7. Wait until the Number on the Receipt is called. (be patient, this can take anywhere from five to fifteen minutes)
8. Collect Food
9. Eat and Enjoy.

Do you have directions to the nearest In-n-Out from Michigan, 48838?
I'm willing to drive as far as 15 miles.

Yes, if you use the drive thru you will likely be stuck in a car line that extends way out of the parking lot and down to the street - consisting of no less than 10 cars. Whereas if you walk in you could possibly be out before the 5th car in line gets to order*
Don't forget to add: "and one order of animal style fries, please" (or is it "messy fries"? I can never remember) You will also need to add a few more George Washingtons ($1 bills) to your ingedients list.
*based on my experiences of In-N-Outs in Southern Cali

Sorry, I have no clue about geography, but google maps asked me this. So no, we can't point you there, you'll have to follow the stench of the friers ;)
