Maybe it's just too much WoW, but I'm finding it really restrictive not being able to look over my shoulder while riding. Not only does stuff look pretty, but I'm fed up not knowing what's chasing me. The woods and grass are pretty thick, and often the first sign I get that's something after me is the change in music. At this point, I don't know if I should flee for me life or stop and fight. If I should be fleeing, I don't want to waste time slowly spinning the horse around in circles to have a peek.
Is there some way (console? CS?) to unlock the freedom to look around? It seems to limited to 180 degrees at the moment. Ideally I'd just expand it so I could glance over my shoulder but not see directly behind me.

Use the "vanity mode"...? That's what I do...

I thought that had the same restriction? You can see you back but you can't see behind you? I'll go try it again then :)

The thing is not to use "third person perspective", by just clicking on r, but keep it pressed down so you have free camera conrol while your character is not turning... (aka "vanity mode")

Yes, hold down "r" and you can swing the camera around how ever you please.

Hmm, I hope Tab doesn't do anything important, because it'll be a long time before I get used to pressing R :p

Wow! I was wondering how to free-controll the camera like that. Thanks!

If you, like some of us, find the free camera too sensitive, download the mod Vanity Camera Smoother. Really helps make it work better.
Cheers,
