* Okay so why has this thread turned to koki-bashing, again ?
* I'm probably the only one on these forums finding starrfall increasingly annoying, so i know i'm EDGY
* A year to get in shape is a reasonable period of time. At first, run only a few times a week, no more than 1 hour but most important of all, more than 30 minutes. Only give yourself distance goals after some time, the first few months are there so you can get your body accustomed to endurance running
* Good luck man, running is AWESOME

Nope, but our opinions are largely irrelevant because she's a girl on the internet, plus she's shagging a moderator.
(thats edgy)

That's ok I'm increasingly finding Briareos H to be a weepy old hen.

42k on a bike? Must be mighty unhealthy where you live buddy. That really isn't a lot and that's coming from me, mr unfit.
But that's, like, a three hour bike ride! You can't expect someone to sit on an uncomfortable bike and pump their legs for three hours straight!

At first I thought "photoshop" then I looked and was like :D and then :(

3 hours? Well you might take that long if you were just going at a comfortable pace but people finish the London Marathon in under 4, and many in under 5 so if it's taking you 3hrs on a bike you're either taking it a little leisurely or you're doing it wrong (or are pretty unfit).
I should state, for the record, that I'm very unfit atm. Probably in the worst shape I've ever been. Probably. But a.that's going to change and b.I'd
still manage 42k on a bike in 3hrs. Especially the London Marathon route which isn't the hilliest. It's not like riding all over Dulwich or Peckham.

Because he's being Koki again? Whilst he is technically correct re: "run", its still a bit... silly.

Ah fucklesticks; as mentioned previously theres a bloody ballot to get into the marathon; which I've missed.
Thats a bit stupid. However that ToughGuy thing looks interesting...let me read a bit more about it before deciding...
Yeah, Big Al (a friend of mine) did it last year and he couldn't get in at first. He had to go the charity route. Did it in under 4 hours.
You should just come to the Toughguy thing fonz. Funny thing is we had just been talking about going for it the night before you posted. Atm its me and 2 friends (Big Al being one of them - that guy is frakking machine I tell you). It would be great to get a TTLG team going for it. Koki could come too.

I was basing my estimate on the hour it takes me to ride the ten miles to work (mostly uphill, on a mountain bike).

Maintaining 15 mph on a road bike is pretty doable for most people, elite bikers could do 25mph and possibly more.
