I'd still suggest finding someone to train with though. Sticking with the training can be worse than the actual marathon itself, from what I've heard. The race itself is only one day, preparation for it will take you months.

Son I hold two national championships in the sport of my choice and have coached teams of my very own to league medals but it doesn't take an athlete or even someone who is in shape to point out that going into something like the london marathon without even intending to finish would be a bitch move.
