So last night I go out for a few drinks with some friends.
Eventually the conversation turns to fitness and matters of health (we're a wild bunch) and someone comes up with the bright idea to dare me to run the London Marathon next year.
Which I accepted.
Having never run a marathon; I goto the gym 3-4 times a week for 30 or 45 min a pop. I'm not fat or in bad shape; but certainly in no way can i run a marathon next week or anything.
And to be fair, now that I've had a while to think about it; maybe its not such a bad idea (Aside from wanting to win the bet); but it could be fun and everyone should do something like this at some point in their career.
Thus; whats the best book/way to train? - has anyone else done this before? I'm a total n00b at this sort of training for physical exercise but the will is strong and I have a love for chicken and protein so first hurdle over!
April 2010 it is then

Good luck. :)
Me I have this crazy thought to try the (
http://www.toughguy.co.uk/) tough guy run some day. More likely to be 2011 than 2010 though. (Any candidate for a TTLG team?)

Its something worth doing, but just like a tattoo, make sure its because you want to do it for yourself and not for others. The bet should be gravy on top.

The bet is to run, not to finish.

It has been a personal goal of mine to run the London Marathon for some time now. However, as I am doing it for purely selfish reasons Im not putting in the effort to raise the £1000 odd you need to guarantee a place with a charity.
As such I am testing my luck with the ballot but apparently you have just a 1 in 8 chance of getting on. How are you doing it Fonz?

Hell yeah. I'm totally up for this but I can't find the date of next year's run. I think its 1st Feb every year or something but I can't seem to find it on the site.
Talking about 2010 btw. Who else is in?

Isn't there a minimum qualification time for the premiere Marathons, like Boston, New York, London, etc?
