Aha, yeah, sorry, didn't read all that before I responded (obviously). Now that I do read it, well that's going into more detail than I was. Everything I read makes sense, though; and all their results are consistent with things I studied.
On the specific interpretation they gave (the flow of time doesn't literally slow, but is only remembered that way), since I didn't study that interpretation at the time (this was 10 years ago), I don't want to give a knee-jerk opinion about it. I'd need to read that paper and let it sink in; I'm sure that there's some clever experiments and thinking that's gone into it, so I won't dismiss it.
On my own space, I'm playing around with some knee-jerk opinions based on some of my intuitions you can read ((
http://docs.google.com/a/trioptimum.com/Doc?id=dcj39h99_2cshnxghc) link), but it's just playing around to give my brain the workout.
In our context, you'd have to wonder how much of a difference it'd make, though. From the beginning we were really talking about how much action you can get done in a set period of time, not really about the "feel" of it. So even if time does appear to flow by just as fast, if it's at a higher resolution that you can act in, practically speaking you can still do more action in less time. So maybe going into those details doesn't matter. I'm admittedly pulling that answer out of my ass; the whole thing is a sort of playfully unreal scifi debate anyway.

Although we would have to change game mechanics if we ever did multiplayer. Not only would everyone get pissed because "He went into cyberspace!!! AGAIN!!! >_<'!!!", but also if someone used a speed patch deal, then everyone would be running slow. MP in SS1 would require CS to be real-time, making your body vulnerable against bad guys. Better get your ally to defend you. Although that would make an excellent variant of cyber CTF!
Actually, that just got me an excellent idea! You have to find your enemies cyberspace jack and use it to capture their team data. You need to get your allies to defend you while you hack (which means everyone needs to decide who goes in), but you also need to defend your cyberjack against the enemies. You might also have other cyberjacks for your enemies to log in and defend from within. Sounds like I got some more Half-Shock ideas to toy with :D
have you not played Dystopia? Its exactly that!

I thought the same thing. Luckily enough, Dystopia still has an active (if pretentious) community.

I've never played the game in a multiplayer match, nor have I played any other map other than the one you can play solo.
