To not care about computer AI in a fps/rpg game is about the worst thing you can do. It destroys the gameplay, immersion and everything. Especially since they are supposed to be high tech-soldiers which makes it even worse. I would say that is an enormous misstake they did there. Making a deep game and don´t care about the basic elements, jesus. If they don´t fix it to the follow up they should be hanged or crucified or something.

I think the Quake 3 AI is based on the Eraser practise bots for Quake 2, which involves a set of routes through levels which they bots follow and then deviate from the route to get items. The thing is, this makes for "thick" bots - In both the Eraser routing for the base Q2 deathmatch levels and Quake 3 they tend to congregate in one area and fight over who gets to be in one room or area. All he higher skill levels do is give them better aiming and more attacks.
DX has good enough AI, the only sticking point is why the normal people stop running around after a gunfight so soon. If the MJ12 guys weren't so complacent it would be a pretty short game.
As for catching Gunther, his knee wasn't working - Jaime just fixed it before you got to the med bay.
