More often than before, sometimes I want to check the forums and I can't be bothered to fire up the whole PC for that so I use my PDA. Which is handy but still not very practical since all the images and the layout are kind of messed up. That's with IE mobile. I don't remember how it looks like on Opera Mini but my trial version over so I can't check. I think it wasn't that different anyway.
Now I stumbled a few times on a lofi version of the forums when running searches on Google and the like, and I just looked around and found that it can be accessed through the Archives link at the bottom of the page, but then the threads are all sorted with the oldest first, not very practical. Adds a couple extra steps to have a decent non-eyesore version of the place.
All this ramble to ask if there would be a way (not necessarily right now, but maybe in a non-too-distant future) to auto-detect when you visit the site from your $MOBILE_DEVICE, and adjust the pages accordingly automatically? Or if it exists already and I just missed it, which is also a possibility.
Anyway, just asking.

I've planned to do this for quite a while now (part of my job includes building mobile sites).
I'll start out by building a Read Only version and go from there. :)

Ok, this is VERY rough and ready, being that I wrote it in about an hour.
(

It should allow you to read any thread in Comm Chat.
Posts are
very roughly parsed and need much more work, but it should be workable.
All times are output as GMT
It's been tested on a Sony Ericsson K810i and nothing else. Reports are welcome. :) It should be OK on anything that supports XHTML Mobile and CSS. It's all very basic on purpose.
Immediate To Do:
* Post Parsing
* Logging in (to allow your date/time prefs to be grabbed)
* Viewing of other forums
* Direct link to last page of thread from forum.aspx

I think you mean Opera Mobile instead of (
http://www.operamini.com/) Opera Mini. Mini's the free one. :)

Yeah it's fast, but I am just that damn good ;)
It looks pretty good on your Smartphone, which is good to see.
I think I shall make two versions of the homepage. One with the most popular forums on it, and one with all of them (bar the archives) I figure most people will load the popular version keeping their bandwidth usage down.

Just a FYI, I did a longer test and right now all links lead to the ComChat discussions. Probably just another quirk. I'll retry tomorrow.
