The possible versions of you that could have existed based on different choices in life that would have led you down an alternate timeline from now i.e. a split in the single point-to-point line that is time (from birth to death).
Think, what if Hitler decided: Oh, I've had it with this political stuff. I'm going to be an architect!

They all fit in the 5th dimension? But there's an infinity of such what-ifs. It's a lot more crackpot than some of the 11th dimension ideas in M-theory.

No, the 5th dimension is a specific instance of the split in timelines - and it is on this point where I find the theory to be a little hazy, because sure if you can prove it for the case of 1, or 2, then it must be so for n cases and hence infinity.

Although I found the multiple infinities and universes to be an extension of the fifth dimension, I doubt that you could continually invent any more upward-facing dimensions from our knowledge of "reality" - of course, it would be possible to create almost infinitely many dimensions that probe deeper than the single point, if you took that single point to be a person.
The funny thing is that because I can understand the potential for differing degrees of infinity- essentially the cardinality of infinite sets, which have been proved (like Cantor's diagonal proof), then indeed maths has the language to describe these things but do they actually exist or are they simply the side effects of an active imagination with access to deep maths?
I guess I have a weakness when it comes to pure, theorectical (or even more appropriate, CONJECTURAL mathematics) even though I love what little I understand of it

Could it be summed up as such: 5th dimension is the axis that represents choice, where our position = D1xD2xD3 (spatial coordinates) at D4 (now) in choice index D5 ("everything happened like it happened")? Or, our reality (in five dimensions) is composed of where we are and how far we've gone (time as distance) into the chain of events our reality (choices/events determined by free will and nature) has decided for itself?

The additional dimensions proposed by String and M-Theory are spatial dimensions you mooks. They're just really small and curled up. They're not choice or time or heart or unicorn they're just more axes of space.
